Our store has had the worst week and I'm at my breaking point as a new SSV being thrown in as the primary opener. In one week we've had :
2 partners test positive requiring 9 more to isolate,
A water heater go out,
A water line break, down a machine AND an oven,
A power outage overnight,
Out of all hot lids and cups for 4 hours,
Out of most core syrups,
And a tip jar being stolen.
I just needed to vent to someone else who understands what those situations mean for someone working in a high volume store during holiday shopping and travel season. I've been screamed at, had food thrown at me, had to work 20 hours more than normal and have been doing it all while unvaccinated coworkers sit at home being paid. Im tired. I'm broken physically. And I'm honestly pissed that being vaccinated means we get the luxury of worker harder.

Unvaxxed getting paid to chill..That's the straw that would break the camel's back for me. It's too much for y'all to carry. Be kind to yourself and stand up for your peace. Try to remain slow and steady, vent freely about why you are behind to customers (most will empathize) don't pressure yourself, shit's going wrong but you are present and accounted for so they best be nice to you! I thought unvaccinated partners weren't receiving catastrophe pay anymore? I swear, if the are the next time we're understaffed because one of them tested positive I'm quitting on the spot

To be paid, they must disclose their status. So as long as they tell the store manager they are unvaccinated they will be paid. 3 of us that are vaccinated also worked with the partners who tested positive, but we dont have to isolate & our hours increased from 5-20 hours to make up for the rest sitting at home. For some it was a welcomed extra income, for some of us it meant 9 days straight of 8 hour shifts.

They are and it’s honestly so frustrating. I’m this close to waking up and just saying “oh no I can’t taste my toothpaste or smell anything” and figuring out how to get a positive test. I could use a break after 5 different outbreaks in our store causing my to have to change my childcare situation to accommodate our ever changing hours and shifts. Momma needs a break
