Sorry we’re closed. (self.starbucksbaristas)

We close at 8 on Sundays which is an hour earlier than every other day. We had a line of about 4 people pull up to the speaker box right when it turned 8pm so we took one more car and then told the rest that we were unfortunately closed and are no longer taking orders.

Everyone was in shock and annoyed but this one man was like “i was here before 8 (he definitely was not) it’s not my fault you guys are slow.” My coworker just said “sorry but we are closed so we can’t do anything about that.”

In the moment I was just like wow fuck this guy:D but driving home I was thinking about it more of course and it really started to bother me. I wish I would’ve said “we’re actually trying our best thank you, I hope you have the night you deserve!” And then listen to him yell at the speaker box because he has nothing better to do😍

my favorite lie is telling customers our registers self-lock at closing so we have to ring them out before 9pm. hope this helps!

once upon a time when i worked at Einstein i did this for a guy who just stared at our menu for the last fifteen minutes we were open. i warned him several times that we were closing and the register would force sign me out at 4:00. I wound up almost counting down minutes. he stared at the menu until 4:00 and i said "hey bud, we're closed now " and then he left. bizarre

At my 1st Starbucks store for a while we had an automated recording that would play when someone came up after we closed. At one point I had it memorized enough that I could mimic it. And a couple times I'd fooled my co-workers with it.
