While it can be a personal issue between a manager and a barista, there really is a limit to what we can do. I have X hours allowed to give to myself and X baristas, and when all X of them ask for more hours, they just *aren't* there to give some weeks. But, as you mentioned, almost every week someone picks up an extra shift or two from a callout or something and that is a godsend

Yeah that happens at many Starbucks locations. It’s because Starbucks Managers only get a certain amount of hours to make the schedule with, a way to get around that is too schedule you less and then call you in later.

If you want to pick up hours at different stores you can ask your manager to let the other store managers in your district know you are looking and they should let you know if they have anything available. You could also just go to the store and giving a shift manager your number and they can post it in the back and they might call you in case of an emergency.
