So we ran out of holiday hot cups this past week, so we had to dip into our stash of standard white hot cups temporarily. Handed a lady her hot peppermint mocha and she says "thank you for not giving me one of those awful red cups, those are made by prisoner labor and that makes me uncomfortable!!" 😅🥲 Like...the cups come from the same supplier and we don't have prisoners crafting our cups at the county jail??

Lol. Like why would they specifically only make the red cups?!

The most recent instance I know of was for holiday packaging for the chocolate espresso beans through a contractor. But I wouldn’t be surprised if cups were made by prisoners.
But once again, prison labor makes everything from military supplies, furniture, to dentures.

Starbucks cups are literally solo brand cups. It’s printed on the bottom seam and easy to find if you look.
The only way the cups are made by prisoners is if solo has subcontracted their Starbucks contract to prisons.

🤦🏻♀️ the definition of fake woke... Even if the red cups really are prison labor, why would she assume the white ones are totally ethically sourced LMAO

I googled where our cups are made, they used to be made in China. However, production moved to England, so I doubt prison labor is being used.

If the prisoners were paid fairly, I'd be fine with it
