is it my responsibility to find coverage? (self.starbucksbaristas)

my SM and i had a miscommunication about when my last day before a week off and then a transfer is, and i talked to my SM then asked someone to cover, but he couldn’t. i texted my SM and said that my coworker couldn’t cover but that i still can’t come in, which i kind of thought was me calling off and leaving it to him. he just texted me and asked if i had asked everyone who is off that day.

i’m literally moving the day before, and yes i should have been more clear specifying the date, but at this point i feel like it’s up to him. plus i told him i couldn’t work that day 30 minutes after he posted the schedule, so it’s not like this is last minute. i gave him three weeks notice and he still has a week and a half.

should i text the other three people who are off that day just as a courtesy? i just feel like that’s kinda his job, not to mention that the miscommunication in the first place was equally due to his lack of detail as it was to my lack of detail.

While it is a miscommunication it is technically (to my understanding) your responsibility to find coverage as it was a planned absence.
