Frappuccino recipe (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Coollyse
hey guys lil debate at my store (its a target starbucks). So some of us were trained to put frap roast then milk to the first line in the cup before putting it in the blender. The other half of us were taught milk to the first line then put in blender and add frap roast and etc. So im wondering which way is correct Im from a cooperate store and was taught milk to first line period but now idk… just wanna know the correct way

Frap roast first then milk then pour. If you do frap roast later, you're messing up your liquid ratios.
Tirarthirst 85 points 1y ago
Frap roast in first because if someone were to add a shot we’d pour milk after for proper consistency
Binx_da_gay_cat 20 points 1y ago
Oooohhhh really? Thanks! This green bean didn't know that (2 months but espresso frappes are rare at our store and let alone when I'm on bar).
Loolander 13 points 1y ago
If you want frappes with espresso shots to not be liquidy, underpour your milk by just a little below the bottom line. It's not standard, but the customers will appreciate the right consistency.
sero5074 1 points 1y ago
So I have been pulling the shot first, then frost, then milk. Is that correct?
rio8envy7 1 points 1y ago
Well shit I’ve been making fraps with a shot wrong. Unless it’s an espresso frap i mean
blue-haired-barista 47 points 1y ago
Idk i was taught frap roast in cup THEN milk poured to the lowest line on the cup 🤷
jeanyette 36 points 1y ago
heyo! barista trainer here, it's frappe roast first 2 for tall 3 for grande and 4 for venti and then milk to that very first bottom line! syrups and other additives are adding only into the blender and are not to go into the cup. hope this helps!

ps- I'm not sure if target starbucks have an iPad ( I'm sure you do ) but if you go into " store resources " there's a tap in there that's called " beverage recipes ". it will tell you everything you need to know to make a drink the "standard " way. just a PSA for anyone wondering about how to make certain drinks.
demigirlhailee 11 points 1y ago
I don't believe target stores do, but OP, your starbucks Team Lead should have access to a site called "Store Link", and they can access the recipe cards for every drink there, as well as the Beverage Resource Manual which has a crap ton of great information

I used to work at a Safeway-bucks (ik not the same as target but kiosk nonetheless) I believe most kiosks only have the recipe cards and they are only helpful to an extent, cause there’s no tablet it’s literally just printed out versions of the cards and depending on when they were made may be inconsistent with the updated recipe. It honestly sucked but with such limited space I don’t think there’s a place for the tablets
demigirlhailee 5 points 1y ago
if your recipe cards weren't updated, your lead was a lazy ass. starbucks autoships updates like that usually a month or two before they take effect, so if they're not put out and replace the old, it's just laziness
spookbish69 3 points 1y ago
Lmao yea she really sucked. She didn’t like me so she tried to teach me the drinks wrong, she did that with a few people

As a Tarbucks employee I can confirm we do not have an iPad (or if we do it’s never been shown to us). Like another commenter said we use the physical recipe cards which,,,are a little beat up at my store 🥴
jeanyette 1 points 1y ago
oh dang!! just wondering how do u guys clock in then? we usually do that on the iPad as well or on the back of house computer.
kimememememe 3 points 1y ago
Since the Target Starbucks are licensed Starbucks locations we’re actually Target employees so we clock in on the Target systems! And because we’re Target employees we can be cross trained and pulled to work in different areas of the store other than Starbucks (which has its ups and downs for sure 😅)
jeanyette 1 points 1y ago
omg i had no idea! that's really interesting but makes sense tbh.
nerdiya 3 points 1y ago
i worked at a tarbucks, we clocked in at the same timeclock as the rest of the target employees
IfuDidntCome2Party 2 points 1y ago
Have you mastered not having excess frap after dumping blender into cup? Does recipe cards get the ice portion correct to avoid waste?
flamingavocados 12 points 1y ago
Frappy boy sauce first, milk to bottom line
Very-_-Disappointing 4 points 1y ago
Frap roast, then any added espresso shots, then milk the rest of the way to the bottom line.
haydensidun 3 points 1y ago
Frap roast first, then milk to the first line, then put everything else in the blender
demigirlhailee 3 points 1y ago
oof I don't miss my time at targetBux. I've worked at corporate and other licensed stores since, but the 3 different target stores I trained and worked at all were extremely off when it came to following standard recipes. cleaning was always spotless but that's it
drinkliquidclocks 2 points 1y ago
Do you guys not have recipe cards?
Coollyse [OP] 2 points 1y ago
nope! i could only find hot drink so i just posted here and honestly its pretty helpful :)
drinkliquidclocks 1 points 1y ago
Yes Reddit is great but it's horrifying that you don't have recipe cards? Are y'all just guessing?
Coollyse [OP] 1 points 1y ago
nope we are all trained usually you train at a different store then come to your own. Im from corporate and was just trained wrong on the beginning step of the frap. We get the weekly updates and everything i guess someone just lost the cards. Most people here were doing it correctly tho.
juiceyluicy 2 points 1y ago
It’s frap first then milk to first line. You never put frap roast right into the blender. If you have recipe cards (idk if target gets iPads. But there are physical ones) the Frappuccinos with coffee all go 1. Pump Frappuccino roast into cup.
2. Pour milk into cup to first line (if we’re getting technical all Frappuccinos follow the same steps. 1. Frap roast 2. Milk 3. Pour in blender 4. Pump syrup/scoop 5. Ice 6. Base 7. Finish. (Blend, pour in cup, and top with whatever the drink gets, lid, then hand off).
Necessary_Low939 2 points 1y ago
Frap then milk to first line is correct.
Midnight_Esctasy 1 points 1y ago
For me there’s no order because it gets blended anyways
rio8envy7 1 points 1y ago
Frap roast first.
lexyyy816 1 points 1y ago
at our store, we were taught frap roast and then milk, but i feel like if you put the frap roast after the milk it’ll just go everywhere. frap roast is already everywhere, no need for milk everywhere.
dazedinreverse 1 points 1y ago
I was corrected on my second week after being trained milk first, there is so many mistakes I've made because of being told wrong information. I am so thankful for this reddit for that reason lol
useless-bisexual 1 points 1y ago
Frap roast then milk then to the blender, then flavor ice and base
