caramel ribbon crunch (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by tnayrbeiluj
i literally hate making the caramel ribbon crunch fraps. or really any fraps for that matter. but the caramel crunch is so annoying because the consistency is never the same. i always have a problem with the whipped cream floating to the top of the cup once i start pouring the drink. does this happen to anyone else? and does anyone have any suggestions on how to avoid this from happening?

edit: thank you to everyone for the suggestions! i will try them all out!!

If I see the whipped cream rising, no I didn’t

You could try tilting the cup when you go to pour the frap. It at least helps!

i never thought of that! i’ll give that a try!! thank you!!

Tap the cup on the counter after you’ve put the bottom whip in like you would freshly steamed milk, it condenses the whip and I’ve found it keeps it glued to the bottom about 99% of the time!

if the frap is runny i always try to gently pour it on top of the whip to weigh it down and then pour on top of that. does it make sense or actually work? i have no idea but i like to pretend it does

honestly, for these and the mocha cookie crumble, i’ll slightly add a few more ice cubes to make the consistency thicker. cause if the frap is on the runny side that’s why the whip floats to the top

Instead of just pouring the frap straight down the middle of the cup, try going side to side if that makes sense? Then once it’s a decent layer above the whip, pour the rest however you want

That and the mocha cookie crumble has mad steps. I’m fine with other fraps. I rather math fraps then shake a drink.

This happens every time to me! I try tilting the cup but it never works. The whipped cream is so finicky :(
tnayrbeiluj [OP] 2 points 1y ago
yeah sometimes i can get it to not float up, but most of the time it does. and i normally just try to cover it up with the whip on top!! nobody has complained so far, but its still annoying

i’ve noticed that measurements are really key to good consistency fraps. too much milk makes it too runny and not full pumps of frap base makes it too chunky. definitely measure out the milk more precise and *fully* pump the frap base!! it stops the whip from rising! also pouring it slowly and moving the blender left to right while pouring also helps keep the whip
from rising! take your time w fraps it doesn’t matter if it’s peak they can wait for their overpriced sugar drink!

edit: also make sure your ice scoops are level!! that helps a lot too! and tilting the cup helps as well!

I move my hand with the blender forward and backwards, it actually helps (idk if that makes sense)

i always put extra ice in it

I put the whipped cream around the inside and bottom of the cup. Ans add the caramel the same way. This way you can see the ‘ribbon’ from the outside
