I'm thinking about moving across the country and want to transfer. When should I let my SM know? (self.starbucksbaristas)

It's more than likely that I will be moving cross country in a few months. I have a family member who's getting older and could use someone being nearby, and honestly, I'm tired of the state I live in now.

I'm actively looking for an apartment in the chosen city - should I let my SM know when I get the apartment and that's finalized? Should I warn her first, before I finalize, and then begin my search for a new store? Can she just refuse the transfer?

Not moving, for me, isn't really in the cards, and I'm nervous!

Even if I haven't found a store yet?

nah you have to find a store then put a transfer request in to the specific store. pretty sure you have to do it at least 3 months ahead if I’m not mistaken, which is why you should tell ur sm asap because sometimes they like to put it off

Not saying I did it the best way by any means, but I only gave my SM one month notice before I found out I had to move across the country and it worked out. I would say the most notice the better, but if it starts getting late, you’ll probably be fine.

As someone who has transferred twice, once across the country and once within state: Tell your SM now that you’re looking to move in the next few months. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have anything actually planned, think of it as giving her ample time to find a new hire. Keep her updated, let her know when you start talking to other stores, and the moment you’ve got one secured.

She cannot refuse the transfer but the transfer paperwork is 100% between your old SM and your new SM. Assume it will take a month for the transfer to happen, especially if the new SM is strict about having the 3 weeks out schedule set in stone.
