New mandatory lunch policy? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by annoyinglyuseless
Anybody else's stores went from lunch only for 6+ hour long shifts to anything more than 4 hours gets a lunch?

We're on week 2 of being given lunches and i feel so ripped off. We already took labor cuts and now most of us have small shifts, the longest shift baristas have now are 5.5hrs long. Was there a new weekly update about it or are my store supervisors just being the worst? I feel like i work with the worst version of Oprah, You get a lunch! And YOU get a lunch! Everybody gets a lunch!! lol

i thought it was 5+ hours get lunches only?? 4 hours and a lunch seems like something they’d give to minors but still… too little

This is what I thought too, we only have 1 minor at our store and they only work 1 or 2 days a week. But 3 of our shifts just started sending people on lunches basically from the moment some of us clock in. It was a big change so i was wondering if it's just us or if other stores are going through this too.

yep! in california, lunches have to be started 4 hrs 59 minutes into your shift or before or the company gets a penalty and you go into time and a half until you take your lunch, and also get compensated for an extra hour no matter what. a lot of companies will make lunches the employees’ responsibility and take corrective action if they meal violate
