Hey baristas, do you have any tips on how to make the iced green tea latte less foamy when we shake it in the shaker?
OneRoseDark94 points1y ago
Channel your inner bartender and straaaaaaain against the lid. Get all the liquid first, then pour in some of the ice and foam.
AstronautMediocre8098 points1y ago
i do this but then i get new ice
Seaweedgreedy2 points1y ago
I almost always do this but it never works lol the foam always comes out with the ice.
hereironically2 points1y ago
Came here to say this.
NotRoyalHarry36 points1y ago
shake it less aggressively or just use a spoon to scoop the foam off the top before pouring into the cup
OkChampionship250931 points1y ago
I find using the spoon to scoop off the foam is best, especially since you have to shake it well enough to break up the matcha in the first place.
honeybeebi26 points1y ago
don’t do it with higher ups around, but throw the drink into a blender and use the foam setting. it’ll mix it without creating foam or “blending” it. ETA- i thought it was implied but yes you can add ice when to the blender, it still works.
ivyadalena5 points1y ago
yeah click 3 and let it go for like 2-3 seconds
snarters1 points1y ago
I add ice into the foam blender sometimes, bc the 3 setting doesn't break up the ice!
general0rgana-9 points1y ago
make sure you add ice so it doesn’t froth too much
blkjoey-5 points1y ago
this doesn’t work with light ice or no ice, you’ll just get foam
honeybeebi2 points1y ago
i’ve never had that happen, but if it’s an issue for you, add ice and then strain it into the cup.
LycaenopsPictus17 points1y ago
I just withhold the foam with the lid until it's like, 90% filled with latte, add a few of the ice cubes, and just a little foam.
JHOOOOBI14 points1y ago
Honestly I shake, and strain with the lid. Gets best results overall imo.
ChenyiWang11 points1y ago
what i do is i measure the milk out in the shaker and then put it in the cold foam pitcher… add matcha then blend on 3. works every time and not a whole lot of foam comes out!
snottymilk10 points1y ago
if you shake it w/o ice it’ll be less foamy
spacespecterr4 points1y ago
came here to say the same. shake it really well without ice, then throw the ice into the cup (i usually do a smaller scoop than necessary), and pour it over the ice.
marilynmansonsbitch6 points1y ago
i CRINGE when ppl use the foam blender. like whY. i just dump the foam out. its fine. if i end up short i top it off with milk or a couple ice cubes.
darkwolf5232 points1y ago
Bruh why the foam Blender
MamiToni4 points1y ago
People at my store will put it into a cold foam blender and press three to make them. I think it’s weird since I’ve never seen it done like that at my old store but it works I guess.
darkwolf5232 points1y ago
Strange
Aveonalily_3 points1y ago
At my store we pour it in the foam blender and press 3 four times in a row. It pulses the drink but not enough to create much foam. Trust me, I love this method! You can even press 3 only 2x.
clumsycalico3 points1y ago
I always make a size up so I have more room to filter/scoop whatever needed. Iced matcha light ice is a stupidly common order at our store and that’s the best way I’ve found.
duiopgffvf2 points1y ago
Pulse the milk and powder in the blender. So much better. Mixes evenly and doesn’t foam as much
normaldud2 points1y ago
Pour milk to the 3rd line, pour in the regular blender, scoop in the matcha, blend on 3 for like 1 second then push 3 again to stop the blender, I’ve noticed visibly less foam personally
wizardsticker2 points1y ago
I still put mine in the shaker but instead of shaking it like the teas I swirl it around aggressively I guess, it usually mixes just as well but doesn’t make so many bubbles
jazzysoranio2 points1y ago
Use the lid to strain out the foam. Also, I swirl first without ice before shaking so I don’t have to shake it as much.

Foamy is the whole point of matcha.
happyzeb1 points1y ago
when i was a partner, i shook it without the ice like three times and it incorporated so much faster then added a scoop of ice and shook it again to cool it down and it rlly seemed to help with the foam
Aliciarox111891 points1y ago
Hold the lid slightly when pouring to make light or no foam
D735481 points1y ago
I used the lid of the shaker to pour it holding the foam back like we do with no foam lattes and a spoon. No ice though.
juju4831 points1y ago
I use a CF blender 😂🤷🏻♀️
v_is_4_violet1 points1y ago
Using the spoon does the trick. But also coconut doesn't foam up as much!
SuggestionShot13121 points1y ago
one of my co workers blends the matcha on 4, same results
SuggestionShot13121 points1y ago
not as foamy
Dependent_Ranger_8421 points1y ago
Shake with no ice then add the ice after ?
daughterhood1 points1y ago
When I pour it, I like holding the foam and ice back w the metal bar spoon (less messy than the shaker lid) then I fill it to the top w the ice and foam.
bibbleskay1 points1y ago
Pray
AffectionateThroat641 points1y ago
I usually shake it with light ice, strain from the shaker into the cup and then fill it with fresh ice. I DEFINITELY do this when someone order an iced matcha latte with vanilla sc cold foam
Dangitkayla1 points1y ago
just put slightly more milk, so when u shake it all the foam will be on the top, take the lid on the shaker and swipe the foam off. i worked at a boba shop before starbucks and that’s how we did it

furry_anus_explosion1 points1y ago
If u have the time, stain it and add new ice. Works well for me. Plus you can fill it right up to the top line and add then add ice so they get exactly the right amount
spookyboi131 points1y ago
i read on here (i think) to measure it in the shaker, but put the matcha on top of the ice (i think typically it goes after the milk.) ive been doing it that way and shaking vigorously, then letting it sit a little before decanting (while i get my second drink in the sequence going typically... our making vsc foam if wanted etc.)
idk i think it helps?
289partnerofq1 points1y ago
1000000000% use the blender. Measure the ice and milk with the cup then pour it into the blender, and pour the matcha into it. Blend is on 3 for a couple seconds, if it’s having a hard time blending, put it on 4.
iindiieecindiee1 points1y ago
I know we’re not supposed to do this but….I make mine in the foam pitcher…now hear me out! It comes out waaaay smoother and no foam.
MrDrProfessorBalls0 points1y ago
don’t order it iced because hot with oat mills better anyway. on a serious note, you can ask them for light ice and light foam/ hold back the foam - it won’t be perfect because it’s a shaken tea but it’ll help
Necessary_Low9390 points1y ago
Put everything in the foam blender including the ice. Matcha first tho and blend 3.
rnaggie530 points1y ago
Yes! Put the poster in the bottom of the cup dry. Add just a splash of hot water. Mix the cup up then add milk & ice. It dissolves all the older before shaking it.
