How do you work with partners that irritate you? (self.starbucksbaristas)

My store had to have a shift/SM meeting because they kept making the same two people do floors every week and how it wasn't fair to those partners. I'd probably talk to your SM or ASM how you want more bar experience or how you feel it's unfair that your doing floors so much. Also, changing shifts like the other person said might help alot too

are floors actually supposed to be a thing other partners do too? bc it’s literally me and this other girl that always do it. n i have asked for bar time and they barely give me it, only the ASM does but i barley work with her, it’s like i’m being a barista trainer too and they’re really still having me do CS.

Yes, everyone should be doing everything. Deploying to strengths is good during peak, but off peak, there’s no reason why you need your fastest barista to be on bar (especially when in the later afternoon)

Yeah, my SM said that it was important that it was a fair work environment and that no one felt like they were being made to do too much of the more physical tasks (like floors).

I got promoted and can now control deployment. I had a very similar experience when I first started and it took me a very long time to realize bar is not the best position. CS is. And that the other person got more bar time because that was all they were good at.

As far as tasks go that needs to be a conversation with your manager. Doing floors all the time is exhausting and not fair.

there are some days when i do like doing cs, but i’ve been at starbucks for 6 months and every other day in at window or at CS it’s just making me hate going to work knowing i’ll be deployed there and i KNOW i have to do floors, im already known as a snitch at my store but i get treated poorly by my partners.i’m 20 but they all view me as a 17 year old girl to boss around. like how do i go to my store manager and ask to be moved around without sounding like a snitch

like “hi i’ve already talked to ALL of the shift managers i work with and they promised me bar time but they won’t give my any 🥰”
like i ask for bar time every week and it’s always “you’re good at CS” “you’re good at window” “YOURE GREAT AT FLOORS” LIKE I DONT WANNA DO THAT FOR 4 YEARS FINISHING ASU .
our store is literally over staffed, like they can teach other partners to do better. i do my job well cos i was the only person trained personally by the store manager i can do ALL the rolls well.

sorry lol, i kinda went off. it was a stressful week

Honestly it sounds like you need to request a sit down conversation with your manager to discuss this. Please do not think of self advocacy as snitching, that’s not fair to yourself. Ask for bar time every day you work and possibly change your availability to work a different shift. But this really needs to be conveyed to your manager.

Apply to be a supervisor as soon as you feel comfortable making the jump. It will make life a lot more tolerable while doing ASU. Transfer stores if you need too.

I literally did that. Switch shifts so I don’t have to deal with those people. U do u.
Dangitkayla 1 points 1y ago
i’m honestly about to just move to mid shift, just so i don’t have to do floors, ppl talk crap about the mid shift crew at my store but at least they respect u and the shift leads care about u compared to the morning crew. i just really wanted to like this job but it’s making me feel like crap
Necessary_Low939 1 points 1y ago
How come this sounds like my store 🤨 what state do you work at 👀👀

noooo way cuz me too and i feel this so hard lmao
Necessary_Low939 1 points 1y ago
Loool ok never mind. I’m in nyc. Sigh honestly all stores and jobs are kinda like this. It’s sad but u gotta learn to ignore it. I work only nights now so I don’t deal with morning and afternoon people. The night crew is better. I have new people coming in and they kinda cause drama too but I haven’t seen them this week and next few weeks I’m getting one or two days only so I’m gooodddd

whenever i find myself hating working with someone i tell my asm or sm. usually the problems i’ve had recently is people not cleaning up after themselves especially on cold bar, i talked to my asm and they watched over and corrected their behavior. i would talk to your asm/sm about this, and be honest about your feelings. you’ve been there longer and definitely deserve more time on bar. also floors should definitely be done by more than just the same two people

I ended up taking another job because of that I was exactly the same 4 weeks in. They spun that bullshit a lot. I knew I wasn't bad the manger could have let me go several weeks ago. I am just better off never working at the starbucks.

I have this girl I work with that literally makes me want to pull my hair out. Start off one she’s 6 feet tall & super intimidating. I’ve work with starbucks for about 4 years at license stores & recently just started at corporate I’ve become trainer after two month being with the company & this girl PICKS at every drink i make, every back up I make, the way I put toppings on & I literally cannot stand it.
