Why do all Starbucks bathrooms have the same smell? (self.starbucksbaristas)

All Starbucks bathrooms have the same funky smell. As if the standard bathroom cleaner is universal. Why is that smell present in virtually every bathroom?

All stores are sent the exact same type of cleaner for bathrooms so yeah, I guess it is universal.

my stores bathroom usually smells like a mix of that cleaner, some bleach, and shit. most of our wonderful customers don't seem to be able to use our bathrooms as if they were their own, and enjoy slinging shit and tp all over the room. makes a wonderful smell 😀

I swear every time I use the bathrooms it looks like someone peed all over the floor. I wish we had employee bathroom. I usually go to a store/fast food place next to my Starbucks to use their bathrooms on my lunch because they’re always more clean

the worst part is im one of the main closers, so i clean that bathroom most days of the week. i spray EVERYTHING with bleach at the end of the night so bad that i have to leave the bathroom doors open to air out over night. and yet i get there the next day and we are back to square one

wait there’s air fresheners in the bathrooms? Honestly had no clue but it makes sense because customers associate smells with products, and it helps with customer retention. That’s why different airlines have different smells onboard

Yeah, Kay Aeroguard is standard. Usually hung above the door or under the hand sink. Neutral, vaguely clean sweet smell.

My store is in a pretty affluent neighborhood and we also have the same problem. Not just homeless people but ALL types of people. Including grown ass men who pee all over the seat.

Literally same. Liquid gold. And when I cleaned those bathrooms you bet you smelled that restroom cleaner everywhere and I got it literally on every surface possible in the bathroom.

Wow, I think we are lucky, our bathrooms are usually pretty good. However I just closed the store today and did have to take a plastic knife to some unfortunate spatters inside the rim of the toilet! Then I followed up with that ubiquitous restroom cleaner. I think that’s what everyone is smelling.

The corporate cleaner just does not hit my sense of smell. I can’t tell if somebody just wrecked the room or has Sbux left themselves open to a bad experience. If you are listening I give the low score of 2 for the smell of the cleaner.
