The nightmare before Christmas (literally) (long rant) (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by lolfuckigottawork
Today we were very unexpectedly busy and understaffed. A woman comes through the drive through. When she got to the window, she wanted to load money on to her app with a gift card. The barista (who was on dtr and dto) didn't know how to, so she came and got me (I was on drive bar making a frap) and well I also have never encountered that before and with being busy and all and hectic I just didn't know at the time. Anyway I get to the dtr and this lady, rude as can be says "put money on this using this" and throws her gift card at me. I then tell her "I'm sorry I'm unfamiliar with this, just give me a moment to figure it out" and she again, rudely, says "They must not be training you because even i know how to do it, and ill definitely be calling to report this". So then I asked her how to do it, because it would be quicker than me trying to figure it out. She told me to stop being snobby and i apologized and said "sorry ma'am, im not being snobby, im just trying to help you" At this point this lady is just getting downright mean and I handed her her drinks without checking her out, because I was confused and stressed and trying to keep my cool and i forgot but then she screams "you didn't even ring me out!!!!" And i apologize and go to grab the scanner and she says "no nevermind I'm sorry I just wanted to play your fucking games!" Then as she was pulling out I said "have a merry christmas!" Happy as can be because 1.) This lady needs some cheer and 2.) I was just really, really trying to be nice and she stops and screams "what did you just say to me!?!" And I said "I said have a merry Christmas" and she screams "fuck you and fuck christmas!"
In hindsight I should've said happy holidays or something, I understand christmas may not of been the right thing to say but I didn't think about that in the moment.
