COVID, DO I CALL OUT?? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by kierraaragan
Somone in my house just tested positive for COVID-19, do I need to call into work? I've tested negative so far, and I can't find any partner protocol or policy to see if I should call out or not.

PLEASE HELP

Are you vaccinated? If you are, I believe that you are still supposed to go to work unless you show symptoms/get a positive test. I could be wrong, definitely call and ask!

Text your manager ASAP. Idk the rules specifically (I also know they vary based on things like vaccination status) but your manager will be able to tell you. I'd definitely tell them as soon as you can, mainly cause if you do have to call out it's going to be fairly difficult to find coverage since it's a holiday weekend

If you are vaccinated you can still work. If you are not vaccinated you need to self isolate for 10 days.

This is right, I just had to deal with this situation as well

My advice, along with everything else that has been mentioned, is do run through the $1 which should tell you what you need to do, and once you run through it you will know what to say to your SM.

Starbucks corporate should change the policy because apparently if you’ve been exposed and you are vaccinated, you’re still supposed to go to work but you can still be asymptomatic to covid with the vaccine. Especially during this time, Omicron cases have been increasing lately even to those who are fully vaccinated

It’s not just Starbucks corporate policy. It’s the official public guidance. Quarantine or isolation is not needed from exposure alone for those that are vaccinated, per $1:

> Quarantine if you have been in close contact (within 6 feet of someone for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period) with someone who has COVID-19, unless you have been fully vaccinated. People who are fully vaccinated **do NOT** need to quarantine after contact with someone who had COVID-19 unless they have symptoms. However, fully vaccinated people should get tested 5-7 days after their exposure, even if they don’t have symptoms and wear a mask indoors in public for 14 days following exposure or until their test result is negative.
