venti frap in a trenta cup(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by canidieyet_
clocked in at 8am and by 8:25 i was crying while soloing drive bc people didn’t get to verbally abuse baristas yesterday (my store closed) so they’re making up for it today ❤️
anyways i got SCREAMED at by a crusty old man because i told him we don’t sell trenta frappuccinos. he wanted the extra left over which, if you measure everything right you should have very little, if any, left over. apparently people have been giving him fraps in trenta cups for 9 months, and that fraps not being allowed in trenta size is a “new rule”. i’ve worked here for 2 years, that’s most certainly not a new policy but what do i, a lowly barista know? he called me every degrading name he could, which was why not even half an hour into my shift i was crying. my mental health has been awful for a while and that just…didn’t help. my shift who i thought would back me up, told me to “give him the drink just this once” like ???? that’s why hes been getting a drink we literally can’t even ring up for almost a year. supposedly nobody has said anything to him since my sm let’s just him order a trenta frap. letting asshole customers bully us into breaking policy is literally the reason why policy keeps getting broken. it’s easier to just give them what they want, sure, but it causes problems at other stores.
the other shift was in the back doing the pull or else he would have intervened and put a stop to it. another customer also tipped extra bc he heard the way frap guy was yelling at me and noticed i was upset
idk most of the shifts at my store make their own rules and my sm lets them do it bc they all kiss her ass. im just so tired of it and i’m ready to find a new job. i’d call out tomorrow bc i really don’t want to go to work but i’d be stuck home with my family and that’s the last thing i want
i feel like maybe the stress from the holidays is just getting to me and i overreacted over a dumb company policy but i’m just so fucking tired of being yelled at over some overpriced sugar coffee.

I'm sorry that was your day 😔 this is why I always tell my partners we have to be consistent, so when someone says no, I can't do that, they're not screamed at by people saying they've done this for x amount of months, smh

This is the same kind of crap I dealt with at my store as well. The store I started at all standards were followed and even if we were short on people everyone got trained consistently. At my store I became a shift at, the partners and shifts were abhorrent. I mean, the common practice was to take sani trays down 2 hours early and snuggle steam wands in damp rags on the mastrena's drain grate. I spent a good year and a half trying to fix things and hold to standard and it never really amounted to anything and the situation got worse for me so I left. There were times where I'd literally have to pull up Partner Hub, find the policy I needed, print it out and *highlight it* to show people I was correct. The sheer difference you get from store to store is literally disgusting, there shouldn't be that much pandering to customers. They might as well not have a policy at that point

when i first transferred to this store in october they were super on top of standards and all of the ssvs, sm included, backed us up on everything. but for some reason they’re more worried about making the cUsToMeR happy now and make their own “policies”. my store has become the “other starbucks” and i literally hate it.

I feel so hard for you on that :((( The sucky thing is that there's really nothing you can do other than hold to policy, and if the customer fights you, then let management deal with it if they want to be lazy asses. You definitely don't get paid enough to deal with the problems they placed on their own store. I hope you can hang in there 💙

I think u can ring it up as venti in a trenta cup and I know he’s being annoying

You can't. The system does not allow fraps or iced espresso beverages to be rung up in trenta cups, nor is there a button for trenta cups. I don't know where you got that information but it's incredibly wrong.
