do you think it would be better if you went to a cafe only store or a store with lower volume? Don’t get me wrong, I totally understand why you feel the way you do (i also work at a high volume store and been there for less than 3 months- it’s EXHAUSTING and the pay is not worth the terrible customers, but needing money is what keeps me there). maybe you can try asking ur shift to give you more bar time?

Someone in this thread has probably already said it, but being put on bar and going through the motions is what helped me the most in terms of getting the recipes to really click. It makes sense that, since you’ve not been put on bar, you it isn’t clicking. Sure you have the information, but without the movements that go with it, it’s just words!

I felt the same way and for my first 2 months there wasn’t a shift that I didn’t cry on my 10 min break or in my car after I got off out of frustration... it does get better, it takes time and it sucks but I think it’s like that for most ppl. If you don’t end up getting along w your partners though or don’t flow well with them you might consider transferring to a dif location
