I've always been told we can only sell it if it has a sku, which most of the specialty syrups don't. Additionally, you have to have enough stock to be able to sell a bottle, which it's also possible they don't
SailAcrossTheSun5 points1y ago
Too bad. Thank you!
VrginMobile1 points1y ago
Yup!
MungotheSquirrel28 points1y ago
Yes, this changed to the current policy of only a few sellable syrups maybe 3-4 years ago. They took the nutrition facts, bar code and sku off most of them.
SailAcrossTheSun5 points1y ago
I worked there more than 4 years ago so this makes sense! Thanks
Acrobatic_Edge199611 points1y ago
According to my former Shift, you could only buy syrups that had a scannable SKU like vanilla, sugar free vanilla, and hazelnut I believe.
lesbikinz5 points1y ago
caramel and cinnamon dolce also have barcodes i think
SailAcrossTheSun2 points1y ago
This makes sense. Thanks!
ConfusionDisastrous82 points1y ago
It's only vanilla, sugar-free vanilla, and classic that we can sell. It's never been seasonal syrups.
imboredwassup2 points1y ago
and classic has the barcode as well
Jessi43949 points1y ago
I was told that at the moment the only syrup we can really sell is the vanilla syrup due to mass shortages.
SailAcrossTheSun3 points1y ago
Oh wow so it’s even worse than I thought! Thanks
FatCoffeeLover4209 points1y ago
I think you can’t buy seasonal syrups but I could be wrong. I work at a kiosk now but when I worked at a corporate store that’s what I was told. That was about 5 years ago tho!
SailAcrossTheSun1 points1y ago
I figured :( thanks!
e_milywll5 points1y ago
Typically they'll only sell Vanilla/SF Vanilla/maybe Caramel or a couple others on occasion. I've heard someone say "anything with a barcode" can be sold, but it'll also vary store to store. I believe it's frowned upon to sell "special/unique" syrups, like Holiday syrups, which the sugar cookie would be a part of. It'll also be dependent on how much syrup is on hand in my experience, as any syrup sold is taken directly out of the stores inventory, so we only actually will sell even the basic syrups if we have enough that we are able make it to the next order.
spookyboi133 points1y ago
wait... hazelnut has a sku?
this changes my at home coffee game. can we use our coffee markout on it or just the discount?
SailAcrossTheSun6 points1y ago
I was only ever allowed to use my discount but that was a long time ago. Hopefully someone else knows the current policy!
rlkram1 points1y ago
Just discount
fannytraggot2 points1y ago
reading this thread made me realize you guys have hazelnut when my store has been out of it for like six months
ryzzostar1 points1y ago
My store is still out as well as all of the stores in my area.
SilverShadow0322 points1y ago
If you have a target starbucks or an acme starbucks, basically any sbux that isnt the actual corporate store, they might sell you one since they dont use the sku number to ring up the bottles. Good luck!
SailAcrossTheSun1 points1y ago
Thank you so much! I’ll try this
MainRefrigerator54021 points1y ago
They removed the barcode and sku off of most of the syrups due to shortages we can only sell vanilla now but I think pre-pandemic we were allowed to sell caramel vanilla and sugar free vanilla. And all seasonal syrups are not for sale.
DaybreakNightfall1 points1y ago
Of there is a sku and the store has enough.
daughterhood1 points1y ago
You can only buy syrups w a barcode. Vanilla, sugar free vanilla, caramel and classic I think.
TheFriendlyFeminist1 points1y ago
My SM has stopped allowing any syrups to be purchased since we need them and shortages are scary.

Try Amazon
Necessary_Low9391 points1y ago
My Starbucks won’t sell me any syrups at all. U lucky.
here_forthefun1 points1y ago
Not the seasonal syrups. The only ones you can buy at the moment is vanilla, classic, and caramel (I might be missing one, I can’t remember)
briannuzzi1 points1y ago
it might be due to the shortages lately. we already have such a limited supply of everything so my store isn’t really selling syrups right now
SailAcrossTheSun2 points1y ago
I didn’t think about the shortages but that would make sense
eckinz-3 points1y ago
Order a sugar cookie latte with no milk or espresso and 60 pumps of sugar ;)
SailAcrossTheSun2 points1y ago
I think this may be my only hope and I might just do it out of desperation. I can’t get enough sugar cookie!!
Missamum-1 points1y ago
Most SSV’s and SM’s won’t allow that to happen. If we don’t sell it by the bottle there is no reason we should be able to sell you the syrup in a cup. There isn’t really a fair way to ring it up. We had a partner try to do this as well and it was promptly squashed lol
OneRoseDark0 points1y ago
I can tell you right now I wouldn't sell this nor would I give my baristas permission to sell this. I'm not catering to that.
dicksoutforpoppunk4 points1y ago
Y'all won't allow this, but you'll allow lattes and teas with 30+ pumps of LCS or vanilla lol
OneRoseDark3 points1y ago
tell you what, if you drink the straight syrup in front of me you can buy it
dicksoutforpoppunk1 points1y ago
I'll personally pass, when I left Starbucks the coffee shop I started working at served Monin syrups and I haven't looked back honestly.
OP might be willing to though 🤷♀️
eckinz2 points1y ago
Eh you really can’t just say no unless you’re an sm and want to risk having someone call corporate. Plus it’s kinda weird that you wouldn’t want someone to to pay $6 for a fifth of your bottle of syrup when they’re like $13 anyways. Maybe if you’re a store with low numbers and only have 1 bottle of syrup per week to use?
Otherwise just sounds like you’re on some weird power trip
OneRoseDark2 points1y ago
so I asked my SM and she said she'd apologize, say we don't sell that syrup so we're unable to fulfill that request, and offer to give them about 10 pumps in a short cup to keep the relationship.
eckinz1 points1y ago
That's fair, when I was at my higher volume store I didn't mind when people asked since we essentially had unlimited amounts of syrup but at my current location, certain syrups are lower in stock so it would really depend on our stock at the time someone asked. People pay way too much for our coffee anyway so I don't mind being accommodating in that situation, especially if it's a partner
CorCaroli11-3 points1y ago
There was one customer who ordered a cup of straight syrup to take home? If things aren't able to be marked out then that's one possible option
SailAcrossTheSun0 points1y ago
This seems like my only option. I might just give it a try haha
