To be fair, you should’ve told the partner with the customer issue that you’d be there when you’re done checking in, as the pre-check should be fully completed before clocking in. It only takes 5 seconds to sign your initials (presuming that’s all you had left to do) so the customer wouldn’t have to wait an unreasonable amount of time. It does sound like your manager is being a little strict with the way they approached it, but PRSC is consistently recommending separation for partners not filling out their pre-checks properly, and that could include the manager being separated for not taking appropriate action when they notice it wasn’t completed (i.e. documented coaching/write up). If PRSC told you the write-up could be appealed then it doesn’t sounds like you’ll be fired or anything (especially if there was a barista or someone who witnessed that you did in fact complete the pre-check and just didn’t initial right away) but I know most managers and DMs are being extra cautious right now especially with cases on the rise.
