What am I supposed to do about customers who just cut in front of everyone because “all they want is a water”??? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by MelodyOfHeaven03
I work at a licensed store inside a grocery store. We have tons of employees from the front end, and a good bit of customers who just jump over to the connection point or yell at me when I’m on POS going “I JUST WANT A WATER!!” I’m kinda sick of it tbh. Just because you want a free water doesn’t mean you’re above everyone else, right? If I’m in the middle of making or taking an order, I should just continue doing those things, right?

"I'm sorry, but this person was before you. You'll have to wait until I've served the people before you." then just continue serving the person. Ignore their yelling as much as you can, if you can't then threaten to call security to escort them out. If you'd feel unsafe doing that, I'd say serve the customer you're on, *then* give them their water. Don't let them barge in

I usually tell them “Okay, give me just a minute.” Then go back to what I was working on and then serve them once I get to a stopping point.

they still need to get in line . i worked at a place where we had a sbux in the store . a ridiculous amount of people would ask for tons of waters a day , and would interrupt the flow . i always thought they should wait in line/their turn like anybody else . besides , it’s free waters while others are paying customers . i’m gonna make those paying a priority .

This is my exact mindset with this. Just because you’re not PAYING for the drink, doesn’t mean you’re not still a customer like everyone else

My mindset would be actually they aren't paying for a drink therefore are not a customer, so all paying customers have priority

yeah i mean i understand they’re thirsty but they can also get water anywhere else . but yeah , those actually paying money for drinks will always be my priority . water is usually free of charge .

I tell them: u have to wait! Someone will say I’m not gonna wait on water. And I ignore it. Now I’ll be like I’m sorry are u a paying customers? That should shut them up

Those darn Starbucks forks, right?
Necessary_Low939 1 points 1y ago
Likes a damn fork. Not a big deal. I would’ve gave them a spoon

"oh, I'm sorry, but the line is actually right over there" and then i point to the line that they definitely saw.

One time a lady at my licensed store came up to the side to ask for water while it was busy. I just pretended I couldn’t hear her lmao

I lowkey have some team members at mine washing their hands before getting their own water if we’re busy and their on their breaks so no one’s time is wasted 🙊
purseEffphony 2 points 1y ago
I would charge them for a bottled watter after they went back waited in line and then just pretend I didnt know what they were talking about when they complain. Oh... you want a tap water??? Ok.... that'll be $0.50 for the cup. (Into the tip jar...

I work at another Starbucks kiosk and we had a transfer reject in the grocery store call my manager and another girl racist because the manager told her she had to wait in line for a water and not just hover she hated me the most 🙂🙃
MelodyOfHeaven03 [OP] 3 points 1y ago
Sounds about right. We’ve got one employee who told the store manager that we weren’t paying for our drinks because we wouldn’t make her drinks before the people who ordered first. In reality, we were paying for our drinks, it got busy, then we made them when we had time.

My god what’s up with employees thinking there entitled to drinks before customers
