I’m not looking forward to Jan 4th. (self.starbucksbaristas)

For reference, I live in IL. Chicago mayor just enacted a law/policy that states in order to dine in, you need to be fully vaccinated. I’m not worried about the kids complaining, nah. Most of them just do mobile orders and either drink it outside on the steps, or just leave on their bikes. I’m worried about the adults who will throw a full on bitch fit bc how dare we, “I know the law”, “this violates HIPAA” etc. type people. My SM is telling all of us that starting January 4th we need to ask customers to disclose vax status and that if they cause issues to grab our SSVs or her if she’s in the store.

I love my SM. I love my SSVs. I understand why this policy is being enacted. I can still dislike it, tho mainly because it puts us in an uncomfortable position.

Good luck! We've required proof of vaccination here in Seattle for a few months now and it's been smoother than expected (but it may be different for your populace). Surprisingly (or really unsurprisingly) the most resistant people to showing their vaccine cards have been our police... the very people we're supposed to call if someone refuses to show their vaccination card. Sigh.

Almost all my interactions were good. Only 2 I can think of that wasn't polite. 2 ladies told us they weren't participating in the vaccine mandate and then tried to get one of our baristas to join their religious group. Another time I had a guy show it to me then call me a communist for enforcing communism. He left very shortly after.

I can’t even imagine. I still have trouble with customers putting masks on when they enter the store due to the California mask mandate.

We don't enforce mask, we just expedite their order.

It's so hard because I fully believe that these laws are necessary for everyone's safety, but at the same time it puts so much strain on customer service workers like us because we have to deal with the tantrums and the fussing that happens when we expect them to follow the laws. It's so stressful and I wish everyone would just suck it up and realize that we are still in the midst of a pandemic.

That’s literally how I feel. It’s frustrating.

i am also in chicago, and i am also terrified of this. especially because of the area where my starbucks is, people refuse to wear masks to begin with :/

Mine just has a massive sense of entitlement.

havent had my store meeting with my sm yet. I'm in Chicago. Just wondering, will we also have to check an ID that proves the vax card is theirs? It's only logical. Otherwise, you can use anyones vax card, defeating the purpose.

I was a barista here in the Seattle area until a few weeks ago and we didn't have to check ID. Granted it's difficult to keep track of every single person that walks in the door and sits down, did someone else check them? Are they there for only a minute waiting for a ride or a drink? It's tough to follow all that.

Our store is checking IDs I believe. I have to double check with my boss tomorrow.

I am in LA and mostly we do not check. It's really hard to keep track of being we only require to ask if they going to sit in the lobby. Anyone that does MOP we have no interaction, many just say they will be taking to go and then change their mind after using restroom. Also we often shorthanded.
