“I understand your frustration, but per the illness policy we all agree to, I have a responsibility to not come to work if I am displaying symptoms of a communicable disease. I’m sorry that it’s inconvenient for you, but I’m not going to risk infecting you, the rest of the store, or our customers with an illness when I should be at home recovering.”

I’ve had the opposite problem lately. If you are sick don’t go to work. Stay home. If you start to feel sick at work, go home. Don’t work sick.
That said. I know specific partners that will call out so much we know they are lying. I’m over it. But I don’t want them at work either. We can survive a shift without someone who doesn’t want to be here.

i am so afraid of calling in due to this!! i haven’t called in in almost 2 years. as a supervisor it can be very frustrating when the same people call in over and over again, but i never pressure them or gaslight them.
