have i been the only one?? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by 2belonely
i just moved to north carolina from texas and i currently work at a tarbucks. i get the sweet cream cold foam is good like yeah i dabble in it a few times but people have been ordering it ON EVERY SINGLE DRINK here. i had a lady the other day order a dragon drink with lemonade, classic, sweet cream, and the sweet cream cold foam. then just yesterday, i had another lady who got a hot caramel brulee with sweet cream cold foam… before i rung her up i notified her that “the sweet cream cold foam will melt due to the drink being hot” and she was like “that’s ok i don’t care” …. i’m confused like doesn’t that defeat the purpose of the COLD foam? should this even be allowed?

if they order cold foam on a hot drink i never foam it. Just straight sweet cream in the drink. they can’t tell the difference

Steam it into the drink and aerate a little longer.

I wouldn't do that, personally. At the very least, I'd clarify first. They typically want the cold foam added to a hot drink in part to make the drink less scalding hot; steaming it defeats the purpose.
coolsexysmartvirgo 4 points 1y ago
wouldn’t that make the whole drink foamy tho?
Ok-Mycologist9011 3 points 1y ago
oooo good idea
mommymary 1 points 1y ago
I don’t think anyone should do that at risk of damaging the steam wand. you’re not supposed to steam syrups and sweet cream has lots of vanilla syrup in it.
olivinemultichrome 1 points 1y ago
Tell that to my TL and his friend the regular who gets two venti vanilla lattes made with sweet cream instead of milk every day

They do and they're too shy to speak up: so here it is. TRY IT. IT DOESNT MELT IN. THAT SHITS BOMB. It stays on top about as long as whip, except you don't have to wait for it to melt in to taste it.
Sdee1234 6 points 1y ago
And it has the same ingredients as whip but costs $1 when whip is free. No sweat off my back if they wanna pay more for something that is free. Although it was fun to get some teens in trouble when their moms saw the price of their tik tok creations😈

Central NY Trainer here, yes can confirm people order that shit on fuckin ANYTHING. Lemonade, hot americanos, Frappuccinos, you name it.

yeah i’ve gotten some on frappuccino’s like WHY.. LITERALLY WHAT THE FUCKKKK IS THE POINT
demigirlhailee 5 points 1y ago
if you're in the Raleigh area, that might be my store's fault 💀 we were out of whip for a while so we were offering cold foam instead and several people said they preferred it
2belonely [OP] 3 points 1y ago
i’ve never tried it that way but i feel like that would defeat the purpose because you’re not sipping a frappuccino from the lid. once you’re done with the drink, the foam has melted already
demigirlhailee 1 points 1y ago
well we were putting the cold foam lids on them, so some people weren't using the straw

Cold foam is their Frank's RedHot.
ThunderLizardX 22 points 1y ago
My favorite I have people order regularly is a trenta pink drink, heavy cream instead of coconut milk, 3 scoops of vanilla bean powder and then vanilla sweet cream cold foam on top. They usually order 2, come through several times a week.
ProfessionallyMessy 8 points 1y ago
I've noticed this lately. Is it a Facebook trend, or TikTok?
2belonely [OP] 7 points 1y ago
i’ve had this a couple times. it’s at least like 7$ or 8$. and it straight up taste like melted strawberry yogurt

You mean they aren’t yet substituting vanilla sweet cream for all the milk in their espresso beverage like they do at my store? We have been instructed to comply and steam it as if it were 2% or soy or any other milk. They can sub it for the milk in their iced beverages and Frappuccinos and then top it with foam made from it. Next our customers with cow’s milk sensitivity will demand a sweet cream and resulting foam from the plant milk of their choice. Plain milk is not good enough any more. We must now have “milk” that is 18% vanilla syrup (or the syrup of the customer’s choice)
mommymary 3 points 1y ago
isn’t steaming sweet cream bad for the machines because of the syrup??
FfierceLaw 1 points 1y ago
We thought so too but our SM says it’s no different than sugary lemonade or the eggnog that we used to steam, or steaming our sugary matcha. I think it’s gross, personally but we have our SM’s decision.
2belonely [OP] 3 points 1y ago
THE WHOLE MILK subbed?? omg no… i’ve had someone ask for the sweet cream made with plant based milk but i’ve rejected it bc it’s just vanilla flavored bubbly milk… and then they get mad because it’s not how the foam usually is
FfierceLaw 2 points 1y ago
Yep, just fill the steam pitcher with vanilla sweet cream if it’s a hot beverage or fill with vanilla sweet cream to the top line for an iced one. I used to say we have 9 milks, I guess this is our 10th “milk”
muthafackin_g_420 8 points 1y ago
they put that shit on EVERYTHING it’s bananas
No-Doughnut-7363 3 points 1y ago
i let it slide for the hot drinks but when the ask for it on a frappuccino, that’s where i draw the line 😐
Binx_da_gay_cat 3 points 1y ago
As another NC barista... yep.
kailadeweerd 2 points 1y ago
it’s so frustrating!! i can’t stand when someone orders it on a drink ESPECIALLY when it’s different foams for each drink. i literally die inside 🥺
