“Political” (pro science) pins on my apron: how much can I get away with ? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Longjumping_Rock_461
I want to buy one or two pins to go along with my several others, more specifically I want a “please wear your mask” pin since our district/state isn’t enforcing masks yet. I also might get a “I believe science” pin.
While I don’t mind customers commenting on them - fuck around and find out - I don’t want management to get mad. My shifts won’t care but my manager is a rule follower to the tee.

Teeeeechnically you can only wear Starbucks approved pins 😬 so if your manager is a hard ass, then probably no pins

This is not meant to be argumentative but if you’re following the science, it has be a 15 minute interaction within 6 feet of an infected person. I know that at my store I’m not interacting with customers longer than 5 minutes and I’m not within 6 feet. That being said, if it is a local mandate that they wear a mask they should be.

My store is tiny, on a busy street and next to two colleges. Out of all of our customers, our daily breakdown is probably ~60% regulars who sit in our cafe to do work for hours on end. And I’m not comfortable, nor are any of my coworkers, going “business as usual” when omicron multiplies 70 times quicker and therefore spreads far more easily than delta. Being more concerned again IS following the science .. this was a post about self expression and pins.

“If you walk into a room with 25 or 30 people, you can be about 95% sure that someone in there has COVID,” Robert Wachter, chief of medicine at UCSF said.

And shame on people for going out when sick!! Or exposed!

I’m not dismissing your concerns and I agree each cafe is different. I believe cafes should be closed and limits on customers in store. I want all partners to remain safe and healthy. Again my intention was not to minimize anyone’s feeling.
