I'll raise you this:
Customer: "Well aren't you going to bag that for me?"
Me: "No ma'am I only have Starbucks bags here which I can only give you if you buy Starbucks merchandise"
Customer: "Okay well you're gonna get me a grocery bag then right?"
Me: "I don't have grocery bags over here."
Customer: "So go get one"
*My coworker comes over* Her: "Ma'am this is a Starbucks kiosk, we are baristas, not grocery clerks so we will not be leaving this kiosk. If you'd like a bag you can take your receipt over to the grocery section and pay 50¢ for a bag like everyone else."
Customer: "Well don't you have an attitude!"
Coworker: "You had one first."

I’ll raise you charging for water or any other ridiculous requests from customers and then getting yelled at for doing so

But they can check you out at tarbucks….

Some stuff, not all! It’s just bc the Target’s in Starbucks use Target registers.

I don’t work at a tarbucks I work inside a grocery store and they can’t check anything out at our kiosk and there are visible self checkouts right beside our kiosk!

My old kiosk did too, before I came to corporate Starbucks.

We CAN but one person getting a coke turns into a person with 3 carts trying to check out their Sam's club order at the fuckin Kroger...like hell no .
bedroom_hymns_3 points1y ago
My kiosk did too, but then you'd have people tryna ring up more than 3 items!

Ooooh this pissed me off when I used to work for a grocery store location. Following charging 50 cents for water and getting yelled at for even changing it but I remained calm and tell them if they have a problem, they can direct their anger at the help desk.

My grocery kiosk can and we do all the time. Though TBF is usually just a couple things while someone gets drinks as well; if someone came up with a full cart I would turn them away.

This isn't a wild assumption tbh. My Safeway and Martin's Starbucks kiosks can both ring you out for grocery items due to sharing a POS system. Just one of those questions where you've gotta be glad people ask instead of presume.
That said people coming up with like a full loaded small cart asking for three drinks and for me to ring their items out can buzz off.
darkwolf5231 points1y ago
Used to work for safeway and we would told to never ring customers’ groceries.
SupaFugDup2 points1y ago
I actually currently work for Safeway and the baristas here aren't "supposed" to ring people out, as it's outside of our formal job description (and unions care about that stuff) but we almost always do anyway because our terminals are modified checkstand terminals and it's usually not that big of a deal. I was worried that it might also screw with inventory, but apparently not.
I get the impression that these things vary by district, store, staff, and individual computer a lot.

Interesting i thought the same too but you learn something new everything. But you can’t get in trouble if a manager sees you doing it
