unionizing! (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Historical_Sea6888
so i have a couple quick question. i work in a starbucks that has constant third place disturbances being that we are both next to a freeway exit and entrance as well as a park in a not so good neighborhood. i feel like we definitely do not get paid enough for the amount of absolute shit we deal with just like everyone else (i feel like my store deals with so much and i know there are stores that deal with even more). what does it look like to begin unionizing? how would that even happen and how many people in your store have to be involved? i just wanna know before i actually start feeling like i want to start trying anything. buffalo, ny got me feelin some type of way!

Contact a union lawyer and talk to your SM, and I believe you need a certain percentage of employees to agree to begin unionizing and then a majority vote to officially become unionized… also keep in mind you’ll then need someone from your store to represent your unionized workplace (could just be ur sm) and that you’ll have to pay union fees. But overall unions are great and if your working conditions are this bad, it doesn’t hurt to look into it. Best of luck!

DO NOT TALK TO YOUR SM

DO NOT TALK TO YOUR SM! This is how you all of a sudden find out you’ve been violating policies and never warned about it. Surprise firing!

Even if your sm is in favor of unionization, they are better off being left in the dark.
