Anybody else have a flood of customers ordering the Honey Citrus Mint Tea these past couple days? (i.redd.it)

Had at least 15 today alone, half the people were obviously sick, stay home at that point, the sugar laced tea isn't going to help.
Ordinary-Theory-8289 -67 points 1y ago
“Sugar laced tea” dude it’s a pack of honey it’s not that serious lol
bitch-baby-2021 54 points 1y ago
The steamed lemonade does add quite a bit of sweetness to it
xoMisaa 36 points 1y ago
the lemonade adds a lot more sugar than just a honey packet….. it’s half lemonade half water too…
kikiorangutan 25 points 1y ago
The lemonade is just sugar water
aee78 22 points 1y ago
It has 30 grams of sugar.
Daily recommendation is 24-36 depending on gender.
And they switched from honey as the default over a year ago. It's now a honey flavored sugar syrup.
noeyoureatowel -3 points 1y ago
The honey blend isn’t a honey flavored sugar syrup, it’s still honey, it’s just thinned out.
amalia13lightning 6 points 1y ago
"thinned out" implies water. they loaded it up with all sorts of crap.
im_a_pimp 95 points 1y ago
people have been coming through drive thru saying "i'm sick whats that tea i can get" and then pull up to the window with no mask lol. i hate customers
clairerhiannon 73 points 1y ago
someone ordered TWO (2) *iced* medicine balls in **drive through** and i wanted to walk into traffic
Pre-rich-bish [OP] 45 points 1y ago
🤭I have never had anyone order an iced version before *knocks on wood*
SpookySteve 7 points 1y ago
Just make an iced peach green tea lemonade, with honey/honey blend syrup if you have it. The iced green tea is just Jade Citrus Mint.
sheep_heavenly 31 points 1y ago
It's aaaallll the time at my store.

We lay it on thick. It'll take AT LEAST 7 minutes and it's really not as strong in the end, but what about a green tea lemonade with honey blend, it's got almost all the same ingredients but way faster/better.
mayalynn007 22 points 1y ago
You can also put some peach juice in there and it tastes basically the same! Our iced green tea is the Jade anyways so it’s not a far cry from the hot one
_go_gu_rt_ 30 points 1y ago
that's when you make a peach green tea lemonade with honey blend 👍
GrafixCard25 20 points 1y ago
Fucks sake. Iced? That’s a nightmare
lat3spr1ng 14 points 1y ago
at my store we won’t even make them iced and I was trained not to let people order it 😬
Lolindir93 8 points 1y ago
We get iced london fogs all the time coupled with complaints that it doesn’t quite taste right.
kiimmytran 6 points 1y ago
give them the iced peach green tea lemonade with honey blend
JulsTehCheekan 64 points 1y ago
One of my partners on window today said a customer pulled up and said they were on their way to get a covid test 😶
-beam-me-up- 44 points 1y ago
Apparently we aren't humans that can catch whatever it is they have 🤷🏼‍♀️
TylerJ716 16 points 1y ago
I refused service when someone said that. None of my partners or myself were comfortable with serving them.
moon_light523 10 points 1y ago
I had a regular go through the dt and I was talking to her and asked if she was going to an event that was happening in the town we live in, and she was just like “oh I tested positive! that’s why i’m going through the dt instead of going inside”
dallizzlee 9 points 1y ago
That happened at my store too. She said “wash your hands really well I’m waiting for my results.
ebhanking 2 points 1y ago
I understand how that sounds, but I (and a lot of people I know) test weekly just to be safe, so being on the way to a test doesn’t necessarily mean much. Unless, of course, the customer specifically stated it was because of exposure/symptoms, which would make them an asshole
JulsTehCheekan 5 points 1y ago
I just assume they’re all sick at this point. I was on window for 4 hours one day, and I had three separate people announce that they were or someone they lived with/were in the car with were sick. While I’m grateful they told me, I’m still unhappy that some people aren’t considerate to stay home and order to their doorstep. Instead, they risk spreading whatever they have to my store, which includes my partners and all of our other customers.
victorious_gem 40 points 1y ago
ohh great, so it's not only my store 😅 I swear I made 20 in 2hrs while on bar, I truly hate making them bc there's no easy way to make multiples
Seraphim_Faye 3 points 1y ago
My store is special (Mobile order pick up only) so I was front/ order hand off. As I get someone ordering 5 then another ordering 5 I pretty much prepped the honey, tea, and water for the person on bar who just gave me the steaming pitcher of lemonade to make their bar time easier to avoid all the slow down walking to the teas would cause them. Was still annoying. As for me it was 5 for one walk in customer, and then not 10 mins later another 5 ordered.
DarkBlueSunshine 35 points 1y ago
THE WORST is when they order a honey citrus and pay with cash.... Like no no no pls don't
7beforeminutes5 9 points 1y ago
Or card in drive thru like I got today.
Tvdrone16 32 points 1y ago
I've had people walk up to me, no mask on, and ask if it's good for "their throat, cuz COVID" and I always have to hide my panic attack. Each time. Y'all kill us with that, you customer lurkers. At least don't admit it.
heytherecomputer 12 points 1y ago
At that point, you should be allowed to kick them out on the spot.
yarncloudsandcoffee 6 points 1y ago
As a customer lurker, I assure you I do no such thing! My husband had his coffee delivered to the house when we were isolating for COVID last year. No human contact 🙌🏻

I do get the citrus mint tea thing (it’s a fave in the app so I don’t know how I mobile order it) when I’m sick, but ONLY send someone who is fever free 24 hrs & masked up (no Covid, but I had a sinus infection and now cedar fever) ((if I don’t have tea at home and the husband wants cold brew))

And it’s crazy sweet. I can’t stand the lemonade. 😂 I need to find a new tea.
Tvdrone16 8 points 1y ago
I'd honestly just get the mint majesty with some honey, it's caffeine free so no worries about dehydration plus the honest soothes the throat while giving it a Lil bit extra sweet without being overwhelming like the lemonade tends to do. It's simple and you can just go off and try the other teas and combinations.
yarncloudsandcoffee 10 points 1y ago
My husband just grabbed one of these for me.

THIS is soooo much better 🙌🏻 Thank you kind barista! 💚
yarncloudsandcoffee 9 points 1y ago
And this is why I lurk 🙏🏻

Stay safe & healthy!
cringeqween13 30 points 1y ago
I just wish people would stop calling it the medicine ball. Like this is not medicinal. We are not a doc in the box. It's a hot tea. Of course it's gonna be soothing on a sore throat.
777BABYDOLL777 26 points 1y ago
Yes and we don’t have the tea bags or honey and agave for it 😈
lat3spr1ng 18 points 1y ago
my store is out of honey and people are just getting it with a ton of classic or agave now. I swear I fear for my life every time I am at window
7beforeminutes5 17 points 1y ago
I had a woman come thru drive thru today who ordered 2 of them and said it was the least she could do for her boss since she got them sick. All said without a mask or a care in the world. Maybe it’s not Covid but jeez just put on the mask so you’re not spreading germs!
SyerenGM 13 points 1y ago
Reading all these comments, you guys should be able to turn away any customers that state they are sick, or at the very least if they dont wear a mask, this is ridiculous.
izxbellix 2 points 1y ago
agreed
FairProfessional0 13 points 1y ago
Yup, and almost all of them were ordered by sick people 😭
Leave your germs at home, everyone!
FfierceLaw 12 points 1y ago
Start calling it Covid Tea 🍵
ilovejimin 3 points 1y ago
😂😂
xoMisaa 9 points 1y ago
if the HCM didn’t have a fuck ton of lemonade i’d say yeah it’s good to relieve a minor sore throat and some minor congestion but the lemonade just makes your symptoms worse with all the sugar🥴 the least a customer could do is mobile order it, put a mask and some hand sanitizer on, and pick it up without having to get their germs on everyone 😭
emmsshamieh 6 points 1y ago
Yes!!!! Also we haven’t had honey blend or honey packets so we have to explain that to every customer and use agave instead 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
Lolindir93 6 points 1y ago
We’ve run out of at least one of those components every week! And the customers are always shocked that we can’t make it 🙃
dallizzlee 5 points 1y ago
We were out of peach AND jade for two days and it was awesome.
greenChainsaws 5 points 1y ago
oh man if this is the reason im gonna start sending people away when they order it.
StrawbaerryJay 4 points 1y ago
I remember two regulars came through drive-thru at the start of COVID and as soon as my shift saw them, she closed the window and told them to leave because they posted on Facebook that they tested positive for COVID THE DAY BEFORE COMING TO OUR STORE.
Reddit_Deluge 4 points 1y ago
Next up: CDC says pumpkin spice lattes help cure covid
CapableArtist123 4 points 1y ago
60-70% of customers ask for honey citrus mint tea. They think it’s a cure to any sickness when in reality the citric acid from the lemonade clears congestion. A lot the time we just tell them we are out since things are getting really serious right now
beauty_lani 3 points 1y ago
we have ran out of of our teas because everyone has been coming in everyday asking for medicine balls lmao
Seraphim_Faye 3 points 1y ago
I had like 10 back to back orders today in my shift this morning. Two customers ordering 5 each. I was like what why!?

Edit: Two of the other stores near mine were out of the teas so we got the flow of all those customers who wanted it.
Hazel_is_Trans 3 points 1y ago
Please if u test positive Don't come in
shutupsav 3 points 1y ago
I was about to throw myself off a cliff if I had to make another Honey Citrus Mint Tea today, and clearly they were ordering it because they’re sick. You know at least a few of them have Covid too. We are truly in hell
bearwytch 3 points 1y ago
None today because the power kept going out. That's literally the only reason.
lowlycreep 3 points 1y ago
I got 3 ventis in one order today and we happened to run out of both teas thank goodness
izxbellix 3 points 1y ago
we have to make them with honey packets cause we’re out of the blend. which i guess helps make it not so much sugar but god it’s a nightmare.
Art3mmis 3 points 1y ago
yes!! we’ve like doubled the amount we sell in a day. i’ve never understood why it’s called a medicine ball though. that shit is like 75% sugar
dazedinreverse 3 points 1y ago
Its always collage age girls in a car of 4 all huddled under a blanket while the driver is sniffling through the DTO
panrosecass 3 points 1y ago
We don’t have honey we had about 35 and we’re 6 part during peak bc 6 partners have covid and like 4 are on vacation and it’s horrible.
That_Galaxy_RedPanda 3 points 1y ago
YES. Yesterday just suddenly we had so many orders for one. Unsurprisingly, a *bunch* of the people ordering for a *”sick drink”* sounded like they were congested and sick themselves. Making me lose faith in humanity bit by bit with every order~
kaefeen 2 points 1y ago
so many today 🙄 I was on dto and someone asked if we had a drink for when you’re sick and I said “not really, we have brewed tea that may feel nice but nothing that will actually help you” so glad no one intervened this time bc I’m over it
Mo_Maha1755 2 points 1y ago
My manager encouraged to turn it off mobile to have less sick people come to the store lol
seashelbss 2 points 1y ago
I made an obscene amount today alone, I think I blew threw full cases of both teas this morning
clestatisgory 2 points 1y ago
Yess ugghh
missrinkateki 2 points 1y ago
YES!!!! I was on DTW last night and felt like I was going to die. They were all stuffy nosed and coughing like there’s no tomorrow. I just hope I don’t catch anything 😭
Interesting-Wrap9118 2 points 1y ago
Yes
Leonsinbad 1 points 1y ago
How do replicate it at home?
Seriously_jst_4real 1 points 1y ago
We usually see an uptick in sales with the winter season
