my hatred for the “upside down” option on the mobil app (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Puzzleheaded_Poet169
i dont know if any other stores have this issue but almost every shift people mobil order macchiato’s upside down. sir you mean a LATTE? then they get upset when they pick up their drink and they say it doesnt look right and have us remake it as a regular macchiato. i have a serious hatred for the mobil option to make drinks upside down because people lack critical thinking skills. had a vanilla bean frapp no whip upside down. like ? sis this isnt dairy queen what about this drink do you want upside down?? please tell me someone else relates ☠️

there’s people who order lattes upside down and im like…. Do You Even Know What You Want, Or Are You Just Trying To Sound Cool 🤨?

This is my theory lmao. People just see all the customization options they have and click it without even understanding it at all. The worst imho is when people order fucking shaken espresso drinks upside down

but the worst thing is, some people come up to our drive through and ask for an upside down latte like …
PM_YOUR_TOTS 8 points 1y ago
this happened to me for the first time yesterday and I still have no idea what i was supposed to do. i just made it regular.
accountedthrowaway5 4 points 1y ago
that’s what i do too! they don’t know the difference lol

I hate that. I've been adding a tiny splash to the bottom of the cup. Pouring the liquid in the shaker on top, and adding extra ice so it's filled to the top.

i had a mobile order for a iced white mocha, no whip, upside down, and sweet cream foam on top. i made it like a macchiato and put the foam on top. right? i mean thats how i understood it. she picks it up and is like "is this mine?" yes. yes it is. and i showed her how i read it bc of the sticker.

with macchiatos they order it upside down because they get caramel drizzle for free. if u rung up a vanilla latte w drizzle vs a macchiato u would see the price difference. with other drinks though thats just priceless and also adding on to my string of most cursed starbucks orders.

i will now forever order an iced latte as an iced cappuccino no foam
aee78 3 points 1y ago
A latte with caramel drizzle costs 20¢ less 4.45 + .60 compared to 5.25 for a grande. And lattes and cappuccinos cost the same, $4.45.

Lattes don’t come with syrup, so when you add the vanilla it’s more
aee78 1 points 1y ago
Good call. I think I forgot about the vanilla.

There a regular who ALWAYS orders a shaken espresso “upside down.” It makes no sense. I always end up just shaking the ice and syrups, filling the cup with the ice and milk, and adding the shots as affogato shots. I don’t even know anymore.

I wish they would only let them order drinks as standard and only allow non dairy options, and whip or no whip. THATS ALL!
frogwater_69 4 points 1y ago
yeah this dude at my work gets an americano upside down 😀 HOW WOULD HE EVEN KNOW THE DIFFERENCE
sailingsky 6 points 1y ago
I think this is called a long black and it preserves the crema better
clumsycalico 3 points 1y ago
We have a regular that puts upside down on a shaken espresso. We always ignore it and she’s always okay, but somebody asks me wtf to do like twice a week.

Dude when someone orders an iced upside down caramel macchiato, i put syrup, then espresso, then ice, then milk. That way it’s still a layered drink, it’s just upside down. We say stirred if they want it mixed like a latte. Idk maybe that’s just my store
italiangreyhoundluvr 2 points 1y ago
first blend empty blender on 1 then add cream base, ice, vb powder, pour from blender into cup & add milk yum

It is not the same, use your critical thinking skills. Step-by-step the ingredients are not exactly the same.
"Latte and caramel macchiato"
Upside down simply means they want it stirred.
dfarner 2 points 1y ago
Right. It’s got fewer pumps of vanilla too.
salaciainthedepths -11 points 1y ago
I mean you steam macchiato milk different - it might be they want it more aerated than a latte but still with shots on the bottom
