Horrible customer. I am a shift and we have an incredibly unpleasant customer. She orders a grande cup of cold milk with 4 ice cubes, 3 pumps of WM, 1/4 of a decaf espresso shot and whipped cream. Sounds easy enough? When it’s not “right” she screams and curses. As a shift I feel like I’m letting—(self.starbucksbaristas)

As soon as she starts screaming and cursing you are within your rights as a supervisor to let her know that if she cannot speak to your team with respect you will refund her payment and she can come back another day. Give her an opportunity to correct her behavior, and when she inevitably doubles down, void her order and tell her you won't be serving her today and she can come back tomorrow.

I love that response, thank you!

Of course. My DM ran a training for SSVs recently on "creating the third place" which was all about dealing with disruptions. it was very empowering.

I feel like I’m letting partners down but she is the lowest point of my day. I’ve spoken to my SM about her but it’s just unbearable and i think we’re all on the verge of a breaking point.

Honestly, you can ban her as soon ash she starts screaming and cussing. Shes violating 3rd place by veing verbally violent and making both you and your baristas feel unsafe. Ban her n file an incident report, i promise it is so freeing

You have the right to not serve her! Please ban her from the store since she is verbally abusing your team

As soon as she starts screaming/cursing at one of my baristas, I'd void her transaction, give her her money back/receipt and tell her to leave. Barista would be told to go in the back for a minute. Then make a note of the time to fill out an incident report later. I have zero tolerance for people abusing my partners. Just try to stay calm and professional.

Just dealt with another one of these. I literally let her scream at me because my barista was in tears. It was so ridiculous, I gave her a refund and she refused to leave.

I'm so sorry. You don't have to put up with that. You are entitled to call the police and have them removed. It's private property. Have you talked to your SM or other shifts about this happening more and more and what can be done to prevent it?
