yesterday i had a little girl maybe elementary or middle school come through the drive through with her Hispanic dad who didn't speak any English so she did all the ordering from the passenger seat so we could barely hear her. she ordered a "shatay latte" with pumpkin foam do i was like a chai tea latte with pumpkin foam and she said no it's a shatay latte. we went back and forth forever before me just telling her to order at the window. i kept telling her we don't have a shatay latte that doesn't exist but we do have a chai tea latte is that what you want and she kept saying no and correcting us that she's gotten it here before. she was literally like 12 or something. we ended up giving her chai tea lattes and she was like finally this is what I ordered and then proceeded to order more food items at the window. and 12 year old Karen wtf.

i love telling people who are always v wrong and don’t want to be wrong but need *me* to be wrong that they should take a picture of their sticker so we can make it faster for them next time. they’re always like wow what a great idea!!! i’m like??? yes?? i’m full of them??? it’s like?? i work here??? lmao

I totally get not liking when people give nicknames to drinks. It's really difficult to work out what they actually want sometimes.
But shatay sounds an awful lot like chai tea when I think of the accents I hear at work, especially considering the poor audio. If you know that they're asking for a chai tea latte, repeat it back that way. If there's an argument I usually just say "We call it a caramel frappuccino but from your description it sounds like it's the same as a caramello frappe! Give it a try and we'll fix it if it's wrong." Otherwise I'm arguing with people to tell them we don't have a drink we do have, they just don't have the right name. Then I'll repeat again that it's called whatever and every Starbucks will know that name for it, make it easier on them next time.

yeah that's what we did but she insisted that she doesn't want a chai tea latte. she was really mad that we gave her one until she tried it and was like wait this is what I want.
