Does anyone know hot to make this stop happening. I ordered new ones and we still have the problem. I also tried storing them upside down. But it leaked through the rubber seal on the cap.(i.redd.it)

Don't put them on top of the espresso machines. The heat is allowing them to expand and leak the Caramel.

I’ve noticed at my store that some baristas aren’t screwing the lids on tight enough. Sometimes this causes them to leak everywhere and make a mess.
extrashotplease46 points1y ago
And it does look like the tops are not screwed on tight enough so this is very likely.

The rubber nozzle needs replaced.....they have some on our order but havent sent them in ages (not sure what they are called exactly).... I usually just order new bottles because the parts dont get sent.
timeladycaro39 points1y ago
Are you squeezing the water out of it when you’re washing it? If you are, the tiny “X” that the caramel comes out of is getting ripped. We now pop the grey silicone bit out when we go to wash them and treat them more delicately.
coldcatsoup10 points1y ago
Yes, also DON’T put them in the Hobart. We don’t at my store and never have a leaky one.

In the past I have put the Uber eats hot drink stickers over the holes and that seemed to do the trick

Are you filling them to the top? I’ve been told don’t fill them to the top and the tighten the lid as much. Hope that helps!
TJW3517 points1y ago
This! One of my coworkers has been a barista for nearly two decades now and she told me that you should only fill them a little over half way. It’s too heavy and it spills out just from plain old gravity. I fill them about 1/2-3/4 full now and never have this problem!

don’t put them in the hobart is what i was told
mierecat10 points1y ago
Are you washing them in the machine?
fannybabbs73 [OP]30 points1y ago
No we are a very small kiosk we don't have a dishwasher. Everything is by hand.
lemonuponlemon33 points1y ago
Oh my god. You poor souls.
pancakecafe1 points1y ago
In that case, order the mocha drizzle bottles that stay with the lid pointed to the ceiling, you might have to cut the tip a little when you get them but they’re so nice after that : )
IsaacStreeter8 points1y ago
If you’re doing it, Stop putting them through the Hobart
Its-a-monday8 points1y ago
They always stop when I tighten them… and yeah don’t put them on the espresso machines. Bad for the caramel and the machines.
Ill-Notice37536 points1y ago
Stop putting them in the Hobart
Beefman4535 points1y ago
Don’t put them in the Hobart 3 sink them
TwoToneIndigo5 points1y ago
Not a Barista anymore but other food service jobs taught me to place plastic wrap and then shut it.
sushibroni3 points1y ago
this! we wrap ours and store them upside down in cups
Animuthrowawayplz4 points1y ago
Are you putting the caramel bags in hot water before putting them in the containers? Thus also will make them leak because ot makes the caramel too thin. Either that or they aren't being cleaned right and there is residue keeping the rubber bit from closing right. Or they aren't being tightened enough. Or the rubber is broke on them. We deal with this a lot at my store.
KobeJay223 points1y ago
This usually starts to happen when people wash them in the dishwasher. HAND WASH THESE ONLY!
DaddyGray692 points1y ago
Don't wash them in the Hobart either. Causes them to warp.
JHOOOOBI2 points1y ago
My store has the old school ones. I personally like them better.
graylikesoap1 points1y ago
i have also found that somehow the little rubber bit at the top can pop off while using it and caramel will go EVERYWHERE including on your hands and down your shirt
fannybabbs73 [OP]1 points1y ago
We are a very tiny space so we only hand wash. We keep the bottles on the counter in the container I. The pic and it's put in the cupboard at night. I will try the 1/2 bottle and replace the rubber on the top and bottom. Thanks for the tips.
puttybutty1 points1y ago
The top doesn’t look sealed properly. You want to create a vacuum seal by making sure all ends are as tight as possible
xsourirex1 points1y ago
Are the lids on tightly? Are all small pieces clean and free of any residue, including the rubber bits and underneath?
Sparkflyr1 points1y ago
Any heat causes the seals and bottle to expand and loose their elasticity. In conclusion don't run them through the hobart or place then on top of the espresso machines. If it is coming out of the star tip replace them and follow these rules. They should last longer.
e_milywll1 points1y ago
I've not seen this happen 🤔 make sure they're in an area that won't let them get overheated, and I guess double check all the pieces to see if there's something broken.
verdeuce1 points1y ago
There are tiny holes on the bottom of the bottle near the silver stand. You can see it in this picture on the one on the left. When these are clean and empty check the bottles for wear and tear and you’ll see the small holes. It’s incredibly frustrating and especially because all distributors/manufacturers are out of caramel bottles rn. I’ve asked lsr for support and all they told me was to keep trying to order new ones until they come in.
cpv_911 points1y ago
We can't get our night crew to stop putting them in the Hobart. That will kill them. Doesn't matter how many time we replace them. They just won't listen. 🤬🤦
uwumoment1 points1y ago
i literally left one near my bar where i always leave it and it leaked all over the counter!! idk why this happens but like someone else said i think it’s the heat and i’m really certain some other partners leave it on top of the machine
