i already work at a corporate store, but i was recently asked by a manager of a b&n cafe if i was interested in working part time for them. im thinking itd be easy to start since i currently work at sbux, and theyre a licensed store so all the recipes are the same, but idk anyone thats ever worked at a b&n cafe and i was hoping i could get some insight? is this a good idea? i sent in an app last night but im stressing

It’s fine, but they likely pay much less. I went from BN to corporate this year and my pay increased $2.

$2/hour, to clarify

Depends on how much staff there is. The kiosk i just left(grocery store) refused to have more than 5 people trained on starbucks and when 3 people a day are needed and two of them had limited availability, it was a trainwreck if they are staffed enough to cover callouts or any unforseen circumstances then go for it, the main thing I enjoyed about the kiosk was chatting with customers 1 on 1 when not having a rush c:

For a second job it’s probably a good gig. I’ve heard it’s a relatively low stress job. But ask about pay, as they’re not beholden to what Starbucks would pay you, just what B&N wants to pay you.

i walked out of my b&n job within 5 months before going to starbucks. realistically it’s not as crazy due to the lack of drive thru. but my storage at least was so disorganized and crazy. you’re in charge of baking all the cookies which was hard to sequence with everything else. and the customers were super impatient. they get so mad because you can’t redeem stars or use the starbucks app at all. and my store couldn’t do caramel ribbon crunches or the mocha cookie crumbles so that rarely went over well. it was a great environment for me to learn drink recused whatnot but i do not regret leaving at all

no lol thats actually where i started. the pay is worse no tip jar on the counter most customers dont tip bc theyre assholes theres so much less staffing (at least at my store) it's just awful when you get a rush bc we arent set up for multiple people being there and nobody knows wtf theyre doing.... so unless you wanna be whipping people into shape! if you wanna pm me i can share more but yeah i'm on my last week at b&n and i won't be missing it
