4 "Medicine Balls" with 7 agave syrups(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Illustrious-Ad1114
Hey! New Barista here! I've been working here for about 2ish months and today it was rush hour it was down pour raining, everyone is cold, wanting hot drinks. A guy orders 4 "medicine Balls" (pls call them honey mint citrus teas MEDICINE BALLS WON'T CURE SICKNESS) at the register with 7 agaves each. As a new Barista, I'm slow on things, and I'm just ranting here but 7 AGAVES EACH? It was such a hassle trying to cut all of them as my fingers and hands get sticky from the nectar on top of steaming lemonade. Anyways I hate "medicine Balls" :) (also pls drop down some tips to get more faster at creating drinks thx)

I had someone order 12 HCMT yesterday in the drive thru with 7 Splendas each 😅 My supervisor saw me struggling and she started steaming the lemonade for me bc there’s literally no way to sequence 12 HCMT’s 😭

getting faster just comes with time and practice, so does sequencing. an example for sequencing that j do is like, if i have a hot drink and a frap to do then i’ll start whichever first, say hot drink. i’ll add the syrup and steam the milk and queue the shots, and then start the frap, and by the time the frap is in the blender the hot drink is done, and by the time you finish the hot drink and pass it out the frap is done blending. i’ve only been working here for almost 5 months i wanna say but it’s just one of those things that gets easier over time, adding multiple honey packets or agave doesn’t get easier unfortunately:’)

I offer liquid cane sugar instead when they order 😂 tbh doesn’t help when you’re on bar but I’ve been lucky to convince people to get it unsweetened or lcs

no for real with these drinks if they say more than 10 sugars i offer classic or liquid cane because there’s absolutely no reason i need to open 70 sugar packets

You people get way too hung up on people calling it a medicine ball. Nobody thinks that it’s gonna cure theM lol the whole point is it’s a nice hot drink that feels good on your throat.

The problem though is that there ARE people who believe it'll cure them. Honey naturally helps soothe scratchy throats, and the hot mint tea is pleasant on the tastebuds. These are natural remedies to AIDE the sick and their suffering, but not actually heal them. However, explain that to someone with Covid, who isn't wearing a mask, in the middle of the South. There's also the issue regarding all the recent new hires, such as myself, who're still learning all the drinks, not realizing the alternative names for them. It's a thorn in one's side, but a persistent one, nonetheless.

We just got honey blend back and I’m so thankful. We had someone try and order ten of the HCMT in drive and we had them pay at window and pull forward.
