Normal covid procedure? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by madihasson
My manager says that if we are vaccinated and exposed, we still need to come to work. We are only supposed to be isolating if we test positive. We have multiple employees that are at work despite them waiting for covid test results, and two employees have tested positive with the people who worked with them still showing up to shifts. Today was the first day we have not opened due to staffing shortages. My previous job was not like this at all. Is this normal at tarbucks?

I don’t think that should be the case?… My manager is calling everyone who has been exposed to a partner who has tested positive for COVID. Everyone who has been exposed is quarantining for 10 days.

Even vaccinated coworkers are isolating? My manger told them to continue working as long as they have their shots which seems wrong to me.

Yes. If I’m not wrong (and correct me if I am for anyone reading this thread), Starbucks has made a policy where if you’ve disclosed your vaccination, then you get paid for being quarantined if you get exposed or test positive. I could wrong though. I don’t remember the details of that one weekly update clearly.

Nope. If your vaccinated and exposed you don’t quarantine. If your vaccinated and test positive or need to isolate for symptoms and have disclosed your vaccine status then you still get paid.

Hey, do you know if the unvaccinated partners who have to isolate after exposure get paid? I am vaccinated so asking for some coworkers

Its insane right now. A guy at my work tested positive last week, isolated for the CDC’s recommended 5 days, and came back to work today and he even said he still has symptoms. My SM and ASM both went to get tested the other day, still reported to work the next morning before they got the results, and my ASM was sent home in the middle of her shift. Wonder why. Starbucks has absolutely zero grip on this and is causing stores all over he country to be reckless with their covid procedures. I feel like theres nothing we can do anymore, unfortunately

Starbucks policy is if you’re vaccinated, even if your exposed. You don’t need to quarantine unless you show symptoms. Which is dumb. It seems it Varies by manager

This. The current policy is that as long as you have no symptoms or positive test, you come to work (which I believe is backed up by the CDC, but that was before Omicron). However, my location is still adhering to the old 10-isolation policy because we have many high-risk partners, such as 70+ years old, immune-compromised, etc.

Yes which is disgusting. I was exposed to covid and got a test immediately once I learned I was exposed. The test took a day and a half to get back to me, which would have been two shifts. I told them I was absolutely not coming in until I got my results. And guess what they were POSITIVE! So protocol would have me come in twice and infect my coworkers even though I know I had been exposed.

I am lucky I have the leverage to tell my boss NO because I truly could have infected the whole morning crew.
