when is starbucks raising wages in 2022? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by wylmaismyname
I know starbucks is raising all workers to $15/hr in 2022. How is this working exactly? It says by Summer 2022 but what does that mean? My daughter's friend works at a local starbucks and makes $10 plus tips now and hasn't really heard anything. My daughter want to apply but it wondering if this is all too good to be true! What is the news from inside? What are the baristas being told? If this just for long time employee? Full time only?

There are two scheduled raises for 2022.

The first is January 2022, but it is only for partners that have been with the company for two years or more. This one is based off of percentage.

The second is in Summer 2022, and the new minimum wage will be $15. I believe it is in June, but I may be remembering incorrectly.

In my district I was just told that even new hires are getting a raise this Monday. Tenured employees will get larger raises. Haven’t been told the new rate yet though… I’m wondering if it will be an increment from 12 towards 15. We were told it’s “substantial” but that’s subjective.

I’m pretty sure I got a raise recently cause like I got paid more working less hours than I did 2 weeks before
WING-DING_GASTER 1 points 1y ago
how long you been with the company because I'm still at 12 an hour.
SummerFinal 1 points 1y ago

Unfortunately baristas still haven’t gotten any info beyond the initial announcement in October, which you can read here: https://stories.starbucks.com/press/2021/starbucks-makes-historic-investments-in-its-partners/

Where is your daughter’s friend working and making $10? The minimum for company-operated stores in the US is currently $12. If they’re at a licensed store, they’re not employed by Starbucks and that would explain the lower wage. The increase to $15 will also not affect licensed stores.

She works at a regular store. I mean it’s not in a target or Albertsons of Fred Meyer. Is that what you mean by licensed store? I’m getting that $10 second hand so maybe it is $12 but when I check recent Glassdoor.com wage info it also says wages are $10 and I think that site is accurate.
dazedandconfusedhere 4 points 1y ago
Glassdoor is not always accurate, it’s based on individuals self-reporting wages and if no one has reported recently, it won’t be up to date. In October all corporate owned Starbucks employees make $12 or more per hour plus tips
It_is_Katy 1 points 1y ago
Additionally: that's the BARE MINIMUM. I started only a few months ago and I make $13 an hour.
MonstrousGiggling 1 points 1y ago
Yes thats what they mean by licensed stores.

I recommend you all try to find positions at non-Starbucks coffee shops if possible. I know easier said than done, but even at $15 an hour the bullshit Starbucks and it’s customers put partners through is ridiculous. I went from $13.80 an hour as a shift at Sbux to $16 an hour as a barista (at the time) at my current coffee shop. Good luck everyone and happy new year

The big difference is the benefits. Small coffee shops don’t offer hella cheap health insurance, 401k match, and free stock, PTO and sick times. Compensation isn’t all about the hourly rate you take home *immediately*. If you don’t need insurance and don’t plan to invest in retirement then disregard, but the total compensation is pretty damn good for fast food/coffee.

I agree. I’m with Starbucks for the fact that I can get a bachelors without student dept. For a coffee shop, Starbucks has ridiculous benefits for younger people

we've already got ours at my store. $16.21 an hour now (in ontario)

our raise IN DALLAS AREA ONLY is coming January 24th.. but very very specific for dallas on this date. i believe other cities are sometime in the summer no news
starscapee 1 points 1y ago
how much is y’all’s raise?
ghetto-skooter 2 points 1y ago
our raises did in fact happen and i actually just did quit but i was getting paid $19.05 as a ssv and the baristas started at $15
mayerinated 1 points 11m ago
Can I ask what was your pay before the raise? I’m at 18.28, way above the min. wondering what my raise is gonna be as a tenured partner. Thank you.
ghetto-skooter 1 points 11m ago
my pay was 12.70 before the raise as a ssv but i was not tenured
Cultural_Mechanic174 1 points 10m ago
Well I was hired in 2016. Took a year off during 2020. I’ve been back now. And my raise was .47… yup! Insulted to say the least! I have never received an actual raise. Only when minimum wage was risen was that considered my raise. I feel cheated! I work hard. And I am not rooting my own horn. It’s discouraging that I am paid exactly the same as a new hire. It’s not based on merit of individual efforts.

When I spoke to my manager last they said Baristas will be paid $15 by hopefully around June 1st and I believe shift leaders get there raise later this month!

I work in Florida, been at a corporate store for more than 2 years. No raise and no news of one. Guess we're waiting til June for ours.
Level-Pen8283 1 points 1y ago
We aren't on the 24. Tenured partners don't automatically get a 10% raise. They go by a chart and the marketing place. So if you make more than the marketing place you won't even see a raise. Shift mangers could see a two dollar raise automatically, but again if you already make more than the market place you won't see nothing.

so baristas in San Diego are already making I believe $15.75 an hour. Do you guys know how it’ll be for them?
Unable_Web4343 1 points 1y ago
My store starts at $15 and supervisors at $20. I make $20.28 plus tips as a SSV
External_Pound2580 1 points 1y ago
What state are you in? I’m a SSV in AZ and make under $20/hr
Unable_Web4343 1 points 1y ago
Upstate NY, supposed to get another raise this summer too.
ovalings 1 points 1y ago
To be honest , you know just as much as I do! As far as I know our min wage will raise to 15 in the summer so no specific time
