covid testing….. 😷 (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by mallardfriend
okay so, completely *hypothetical* question, but say someone tested positive for covid yesterday, and is isolating for 5 days. are they required to get a negative covid test before coming back to work? someone, hypothetically, was told *NO* by their (completely hypothetical) manager. but that just doesn’t seem safe or responsible. any feedback is appreciated. it should also be worth noting that this person’s entire family more than likely has covid, including their partner which they share the same room with.

So the CDC's new five day quarantine for asymptomatic positive tests is absolute trash and only exists because of pressure from businesses. My partner is a medical professional and has said that maybe if they had shortened it to seven days, that would be more based on the statistics, but five days is way too short.

the thing is, i’m not even asymptomatic. i’m very sick and have been since a day or so before i got tested (thankfully i didn’t work on those days)

if you’re showing symptoms after five days DONT go to work, that falls under what the CDC is saying to do anyways

Yeah, then the quarantine period doesn't apply to you. If you are actively sick, you under no circumstances should go in regardless of what your manager says.

my manager said no but we are also hella understaffed

fair. same boat but it’s from other people most likely also having covid 😃

No, because you can continue to test positive for a while after your symptoms resolve
