if you’re ordering a HCMT just stay home (short rant) (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by FireDragonSabo
i’ve never heard a drink been ordered more than a “medicine ball” or a “sick tea” in the last three days over any other drink

if you’re that sick STAY THE HELL HOME it’s concerning that people think that the HCMT is some lifesaver or cure to their sickness. don’t get me and my coworkers sick just because you think you’ll be fixed after one sip of your glorious medicine ball.

IT’S NOT EVEN CALLED THAT. and it’s just fancy hot lemonade, you can stay home and steam some yourself or you can get some actual fucking medicine

I had four different clearly ill customers come and order the medicine ball today. It’s sad cuz like any benefit you might get from the honey is eliminated by the amount of sugar from the lemonade.

I had a full car order 4 of them and they referred to them as the "sick tea" they ALL were sick. I'm so tired of this shit. No mask no nothing. My best friend of 20 years, her mother just passed suddenly in her sleep at 52 from covid. Over it.

I deny that the drink exists. There is no medicine ball tea. And the honey citrus tea is currently out. Sorry. Stay home.

It's also super simple to make what I think it's trying to imitate:

Thinly slice 1 lemon and one 'finger' of ginger. Place in a jar, then cover with honey. It helps to put the ginger first, and try to place the lemon sideways.

Let it sit for a short while ( I've never actually timed it) until you can see a bit of water on top. It'll be a bit thicker because of the honey. Once you see that, shake it up. Now your 'tea base' is ready.

Start boiling some water and take a few slices of lemon and ginger from your container, along with some of the liquid and put it in a mug. Pour over with boiling water and voyluh you have the real deal.

Great for sore throats and stuffy noses. Store in a fridge.

We had a lady order it for her kid, who was subsequently hacking up a lung at the DT window. People are actually insane.

I want a fan behind the counter that just blows their coughs back at them.

i swear to god today during my shift just about every other car asked for it.. it was an outrageous amount of people 😳 we didn’t have everything to be able to make it thank god. saved us so much time and probably prevented a ton of us from being exposed to sick ppl bc they would just leave when we told them we couldn’t make it

I mean, if I would probably hide the honey syrup if I was able to.

Someone mobile ordered 10 at our store the other day. Couldn’t even face us to order cause they know how stressful that drink is to make!!

We got asked today “do you have like, that wellness tea?”

It’s sugar (honey still counts toward daily sugar intake), lemonade (which is sugar) and some hot leaf water. It’s not a wellness tea. There is no medicine in that ball. We are completely out of ingredients for it. Including lemonade at this point. The reason is because we went from a couple people a day ordering it to 40-50 people a day trying to order it.

literally had a guy order on DT the medicine ball yesterday, i wasnt at the screen yet so i clarified his order as the HCMT before punching it in and he got so defensive and was like “no i said medicine ball” i have no patience left so i just “okay” lol
