Asking baristas on bar how much longer their food is going to take? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by converselvr
This really gets to me. I know they probably don’t know who else to ask, but when it’s super slammed the baristas on bar should only be worrying about drinks

SOO ANNOYING. 99% of the time they don’t even ask, they just say “I got a sandwich too” like, okay good for you???? Does it look like I am anywhere near the ovens??
It’s the worst when they literally rush me and if we’re short-staffed, I have to leave my spot and go check on their food to shut them up.

“I got a sandwich too”

Do I look like I am making food right now? Seriously. Pause and look at where I am. Do I look like I am making sandwiches.

At the grocery store kiosk i was at, i appreciated them telling me bc if i was on bar and didn't hear them order it and the register person didn't tell me, I didn't know until I handed off the drink and told them have a good day!

Then they would be like "i have xyz also" and they'd have to wait longer bc I wasn't told beforehand YoY
Usually i heard them order but it would be nice if the other person would tell me too if they weren't getting it themselves.

do y’all not have stickers at those locations? usually the sticker will tell you like item 1 of 2 or whatever and if there’s no other drink you made with it, usually means there’s food

No we do! Handoff person usually deals with that but I’m talking about customers that actually go up to the bar and ask how long their food is gonna take! It happens ALL THE TIME
SakasuCircus 1 points 1y ago
Nope at least not at the one kiosk I was in(just 1 register, 1 espresso machine, 1 blender, 1 oven, and all dishes had to be washed by hand)

god that sucks!! i figured y’all didn’t, but wanted to throw the info out there just in case.

glad you’re not at a kiosk anymore

it’s always gotten to me because the location of the ovens is obvious, why would i know? do you see me walking back and forth, or do you see me planted and making drinks?

Or this:

Cue lights. Customer walks into the store. They lock onto the barista standing at a very large espresso machine, with cups, milk, and steam pitchers lined up on the counters. Customer walks up to that barista. They say “yeah I’ll take a grande americano with light cream and 2 sugars.”

😐

You guys have the staff to not be throwing every barista to every position?
converselvr [OP] 1 points 1y ago
Oh no we’re constantly switching it up! But we usually have a handoff person during morning rushes!
