As soon as you mentioned the old lady with the almond croissants, my heart sank... I'm sure we all have a regular like this.

That was the genuine last time I saw her too. I only ever was a first name basis with her but that’s how she liked it. I pray she’s safe, and 2.5 years later it hurts me that I don’t know…

I get this was pretty scary at the time. That was back when literally everyone was rushing to Costco and cleaning the shelves, leaving literally no food left in stores.

However, now we have very effective vaccines *and* treatments available. Combine that with the evidence that Omicron (despite spreading rapidly) causes illness that is significantly less severe. While we should be cautious, I don’t think it’s cause to be panicked or overly frightened to the point of having to speak to the head of HR. Starbucks is going to follow the established CDC guidelines and this isn’t going to change. There’s not really a comparison to be made between February/March of 2020 and now. Posts like this just contribute to unnecessary anxiety and panic.

My only intention was sharing MY story and what I learned after reading other partners struggling to reach and understanding/ communication with SM and GM. These partners are already afraid and have come here to say in a way “I’m afraid, and I went to who I was told to go to and I feel no resolution”

In regards to the interpretation of this post it is not on me to tweak my story for others emotions. As a HUGE sufferer of anxiety myself I know you can’t define ever what can and cannot make any individual anxious. Only they know (you know)

True, but that doesn’t mean you can’t perpetuate a narrative of alarm or a sense of panic/anxiety when making public posts.

I was mainly offering a counterbalance and saying that there isn’t really a need to reach up the chain through HR and high up into the company about COVID now, like there might have been when this first started. People can read the CDC website to understand the risks and current guidance about when you should or shouldn’t work. The policies Starbucks has are almost purely based on CDC rules - so if anyone has issues with those they should be reaching out to their congressional representatives.
