Customer Connection Score (self.starbucksbaristas)

What affects a customer connection score?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, I don't have complete faith in my leaders. I was told it's a survey that randomly gets asked of either people that pay by the app or could even just be gold members. Score is 1-7 (but only 7 counts in our favor?) with the single question "how well did your Starbucks barista try to get to know you today?" So imo it's a worthless survey. Doesn't ask enough people, and it's the wrong question. Perfect customer service small talk isn't "getting to know" someone, and getting too personal with some strangers is a big turn off. We could do everything right from the customer service standpoint, and even a happy customer may give us a 6 because we weren't "getting to know them."

customer connections make me so uncomfortable! i’m autistic and while i dont mind chatting with strangers sometimes, i *hate small talk,* i never know what to say and it makes me physically uncomfortable. i like being on window but i never make an effort to “get to know” the customers. they just want their coffee! also, *how are we supposed to keep our drive times down if we’re getting to know each other* lol

Perfect point! Fast service and "getting to know you" aren't compatible. And I may add, gold members are more likely to be regulars, and there's a good chance we already know them as well as they want us to!

Stranger interactions are so awkward for me too, I'll load up a few easy phrases each day. How are you on this completely unremarkable Tuesday usually at least gets a chuckle.

i’ve stopped asking “how are you” cause when people say “bad” i never know what to say 😆 i’ve always hated how that was a greeting, people (almost) never ever answer honestly so i don’t see the point!

Sometimes I like to admit the awkward... like I'll feel a BIG pause because we're waiting on warming or something and literally say, "fun awkward silence..." The response to "bad" could be, "wow, that's honesty." or "I'm at work, so right there with you" insert chuckle.

It’s a shitty survey that only surveys specific people with poorly worded questions. Basically designed to fail

Fuck the CCS! If they want us to care, pay us a commission

I hate how contradictory it is to both need to connect to customers and serve them I can’t have conversations with someone when I’m only able to interact for 60 seconds and 45 of them are spent taking their order and giving it to them
