does anyone actually work consecutive days? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by accountedthrowaway5
this may be the most random question ever, but ive noticed that the only person who really works Monday-Friday at my store is my manager. everyone else either works like, every other day, or solely weekends, or for example, Tuesdays, Fridays, Sundays. does anyone actually have a set schedule at their store? im asking because my doctor recommended that i have a set schedule and work/school balance, so i put in an availability request for monday-thursdays for AM shifts. not sure if that’s too… far fetched?

i work tuesday-saturday. my manager is actually one of the only ones with nonconsecutive days off here unless partners are less than 20hrs. she tries for sunday/wednesday off usually and more often than not comes in or WFH anyway.

thank you!

i usually work sun-thurs, i know some store require to work at least one weekend day but definitely depends on your situation!

I used to have just Monday and wednesday off for school. So most of those weeks I was working all the way through thursday-sunday. But I was also working in between on tuesday’s
accountedthrowaway5 [OP] 2 points 1y ago
ooh okay, makes sense. thank you!

I work Monday- Friday opening shifts only.
I used to get Tuesdays and Sundays off. I changed it to Monday-Friday because I have a 7 year old and I go to ASU and my son has school and I’m also a full time mom. Talk to your manager about it! Hopefully all goes well 🙂

thank you so much! really appreciate it

At my store we always work consecutive days. They even will do you dirty to make it so you work as many days in a row as possible. I’m supposed to work 5 days a week and get 2 off. So sometimes I’ll get Monday-Tuesday off but then the next week get Saturday-Sunday off meaning I’ll work 11 days in a row. Wish I had your problem lol.

that sounds stressful, im sorry. though honestly, i ask since im not getting enough hours. hopefully this request goes through 😬
canidieyet_ 3 points 1y ago
pretty much everyone but my SM works consecutive days, but it’s not the same every week (so week 1 and 3 would be the same, week 2 and 4 would be the same). it alternates every week. for me, it goes week 1/3: sunday thru friday with saturday and tuesday off. week 2/4: monday-friday with saturday and sunday off. and then it repeats. i didn’t ask to be scheduled like this, it’s just how my SM does it. it’s nice bc if i need to make appointments i already have an idea of what days i’m free

I work Mon-Fri morning shifts
accountedthrowaway5 [OP] 1 points 1y ago
awesome, thanks!
wok3less 2 points 1y ago
ive changed my schedule around alot over my time but for months now ive been monday-friday, always generally the same hours and off on weekends. im incredibly grateful for that consistency tbh
accountedthrowaway5 [OP] 1 points 1y ago
hoping my availability request gets accepted but our store hours just got cut so maybe not likely? 😬
wok3less 1 points 1y ago
how long have you been with the company? if you’re newer you tend to have less opinion
overturned23 2 points 1y ago
depends on how the schedule falls out. The most I usually get scheduled for in a row is 2 days but I have been scheduled for 5 days in a row.

I have sundays and Thursdays as unavailable but have been getting tuesdays off too for some reason. I had it that way bc I have epilepsy but having 3 days off now is messing with my income lol. So be assertive with your availability regarding health and all that.
accountedthrowaway5 [OP] 1 points 1y ago
thank you! i hope you can also get the hours that you need
sero5074 1 points 1y ago
I wish. Currently having to isolate bc some partner I worked with TUESDAY tested positive and was just told today. So out of work til next Tuesday. 🤷
accountedthrowaway5 [OP] 1 points 1y ago

accountedthrowaway5 [OP] 2 points 1y ago

starrrrrfruittttt 2 points 1y ago
I work Tuesday thru Saturday opening shifts, except for my Tuesday mid. My schedule is very consecutive occasionally I’ll have a day off that isn’t Monday/Sunday but other than that very consistent. A lot of my coworkers work consecutive shifts.
Aurora_Boreallis 2 points 1y ago
I work Thursday-Monday sometimes Wednesday-sunday because of child care issues (mostly anxiety about taking my kid to preschool while I’m a raging pandemic and my husband (a shift at a different store works Friday-Tuesday

i set my availability to have 2 days off next to each other, so i don’t work thursday or friday and work every other day, except for the off chance where i also get wednesday off
k8mitchy 2 points 1y ago
I always work consecutive days and thought that’s just how it is lol sometimes if I’m lucky though my days off will only be one shift apart or I’ll be blessed with a closing shift instead of opening at the end of the week
accountedthrowaway5 [OP] 1 points 1y ago
nice thanks!
Ok-Mix-5129 1 points 1y ago
I work six days a week, this current week and next I work nine days in a row
accountedthrowaway5 [OP] 1 points 1y ago
oof, wishing you all the best
mania2k18 1 points 1y ago
latley i've been working thursday - monday so my two days off are consecutive. my manger changes my schedule completely every month and a half or so though
accountedthrowaway5 [OP] 1 points 1y ago
why is that? is it because of your availability?
mania2k18 2 points 1y ago
idk tbh. my availability isn't great bc i'm still in high school, but i've overheard other baristas saying that our manger changes their schedules around all the time too 🤷‍♀️
Kaori15 1 points 1y ago
I work Monday - Friday morning shifts because I'm still in hs and have work based learning
accountedthrowaway5 [OP] 1 points 1y ago

I used to work Tuesday-Saturday 5-1 and my schedule never changed
accountedthrowaway5 [OP] 1 points 1y ago
thanks!
catatoniccatalyst 1 points 1y ago
It definitely shouldn’t be a problem for the most part, I work opens Tuesday-Saturday every week. But since it’s the start of slow season, you might get more days off than you originally requested.
accountedthrowaway5 [OP] 1 points 1y ago
thank you!
swallowingpixies 1 points 1y ago
I worked 8 days in a row over the holidays idk
accountedthrowaway5 [OP] 1 points 1y ago
that sounds… stressful 😬
MathSmooth4506 1 points 1y ago
Monday-Wednesday, Friday-Saturday
Thursday and Sunday are my only days off
accountedthrowaway5 [OP] 2 points 1y ago
does that schedule work well for you? does the day off in the middle of the week feel like an actual day off?
MathSmooth4506 2 points 1y ago
I mean do I ever feel fully rested? No lmao. But it works. I should mention I’m an opener. I have to be there at 4:30am, I wake up at 3:15am everyday. I’m home by 11:30. And my husband works at a bar/restaurant. He leaves by 4pm and usually doesn’t get home until around 2am. But we both have Sundays off. So it works in that we are able to spend time together on Sunday’s and during the day before he leaves for the bar.

Ideally I’d like to work Monday-Thursday+ Saturday’s. And have Fridays and Sundays off. But this is ok for now.
