For us we have 6. 2 exclusive openers. 2 exclusive closers. 2 mids / flexible ones (though even that, ones a mid who opens more, ones a mid who closes more)

biclimbercatmom7 points1y ago
cafe only store a bit more low volume (average 4k a day). we have 2 opener ssv’s & 2 closers (me being one of them) & our sm. we could definitely benefit from having a fifth just to cover occasionally & rotate in bc all of us are burnt out af😅
blahblahcapitalism6 points1y ago
from my experience, when i started working at a store in the chicago suburbs, we had 4 SS (all full time) and one SM. now i transferred out of state (for college) and i work at a very high profile store and we have around 20 SS and 2 SMs and 1 ASM. so honestly, it depends on the store and their needs. i would say typically 4/5 SS per store would be common.
esaeklsg2 points1y ago
Is that actually 20 SS or is that a typo
blahblahcapitalism6 points1y ago
not a typo. we have like 22/23 SS rn. it’s hard to keep track (edit: like i said above im in a pretty busy store we average $11k a day with up to 14 ppl on the floor during rush hours)
canidieyet_3 points1y ago
your store sounds like a dream
blahblahcapitalism3 points1y ago
ya i agree it’s a nightmare sometimes^ but people call off soooo much because we have so many scheduled so they think it’s ok. but the problem is too many ppl think that way so we’ll have around 7 call offs in a day ☹️
ImpressionAbject72802 points1y ago
We have 26 at mine it’s sometimes a nightmare cause of the egos
abandon_hopeless5 points1y ago

I work at a high volume store and have about 20+ baristas, with 7 shifts including myself 😊 2 opening shifts, 3 mid/flex, and 2 closers.
garciajen983 points1y ago
According to my SM anywhere from 6-7 shifts is optimal for each store with 20-30 baristas. That number changes depending on volume I’m assuming.
Puzzled-Pianist-42273 points1y ago
We have 4 right now
panrosecass2 points1y ago
We have 5
headsinavicee1 points1y ago
We have four. But we are a Cafe store that isn't super busy
mechagothicsalmon1 points1y ago
My store used to have 7. Then someone demanded to be promoted or they would leave so a new position was made just for them. Now we have 8 but my SM wants to promote another barista (who absolutely deserves it) so I’m the up coming weeks maybe 9? All of them are opening and mid shifts. We have one consistent Night Shift and hopefully we’ll have 2 soon!
HunterLost20621 points1y ago
3 one opener 2 closer
dstnygn1 points1y ago
we have 6 ssv, about 18-22 employees in total for scale.
dylsWRLD7401 points1y ago
i’ve had as little as 4 and as many as 8
canidieyet_1 points1y ago
my store has 5 SSVs and roughly 15ish baristas. 2 SSVs are solely openers, 2 are closers, and one is mostly mid.
strangeyeena1 points1y ago
My store has 7 right now.
ghetto-skooter1 points1y ago

CommanderWar641 points1y ago
Mine has 3
medusas-garden1 points1y ago
At my store we have six, plus my SM so seven key holders. I’m quitting tho so we’ll be down another shift lol
EffervescentWalrus1 points1y ago
M-F cafe store: We had 3 plus the manager until recently. Now it’s just 2 plus the SM. We might be getting an ASM soon though.
