anyone else see the Very Berry recall? does anyone know *why* it's being recalled? usually companies will tell you, like if onions get recalled cause of salmonella they tell you that 🤔
Update: my manager didn't see the notice and we don't have a VBH button we have a Refresher button that's how we were still selling it... the very very hibiscus isn't very popular at our location so I don't even think we sold more than five
BeardiesRule11269 points1y ago
It’s being permanently discontinued, not recalled.
TheActualFridge [OP]19 points1y ago
the notice says "due to potential quality defects that does not meet Starbucks and Nestle standards please remove the impact of products from your inventory immediately" then it says they we're already planning on discontinuing later in the month but "due to the situation with the fruit blackberry inclusions and no additional inventory available we're moving up the discontinued date"
BlackberryOpposite3172 points1y ago
This all happened like a month ago. You’re a bit behind my friend. They were gonna discontinue it and then they had bad products so they said “Fuck it just throw everything away”.
TheActualFridge [OP]20 points1y ago
👀 well... my manager just saw it 😬
mylegalusername21 points1y ago
And this is why reading the Weekly Update is important 😂
Nicckles10 points1y ago
There was a more recent discard, do not sell order for Brûlée & Caramel Crunch topping. But the VBH refresher is as of now, discontinued.

Wait, Nestle? Wtf

Very berry was discontinued. A few weeks back there was a recall in n the berries used as the inclusions for the drink. But that drink has since been permanently discontinued.
JHOOOOBI3 points1y ago
Do you know when the recall happened and why?
ElijahLordoftheWoods5 points1y ago
My understanding was some the berries had thorns and therefore it’s not safe to serve them. We never got the berries back in at my store so that’s just what I’ve caught on from this sub etc.
JHOOOOBI2 points1y ago
Yikes I’ll have to let my boss know. Can you possibly send me a picture of the recall? We don’t get that information at my location and my boss will want to see it. Because they are dead set on keeping the fucking berries despite not having the drink anymore.
ElijahLordoftheWoods2 points1y ago
I don’t, it was in a weekly update a while ago. Y’all should be getting weekly updates, is your boss not reading them too?
LoveLiveSIP2 points1y ago
Very Berry is only discontinued at company owned stores Target Starbucks stores still haven’t received a weekly update saying it’s discontinued
wanderer15221 points1y ago
I'm at a Target store and we definitely got that weekly update. Maybe ask your team lead, if you are the team lead check past weekly updates or contact your DM.
ProfessionalRock794015 points1y ago
Bro this was a while ago I really hope yall haven't been selling it this whole time 😬
C10ckw0rks11 points1y ago
Yeah fr how do you sell it without a button...that should have been the first clue
TheActualFridge [OP]7 points1y ago
our location doesn't have a very very hibiscus button we only have a "refreshers" button
overturned231 points1y ago
Are you licensed
TheActualFridge [OP]2 points1y ago
we're a "we proudly serve" location. technically Starbucks, technically not
TheActualFridge [OP]3 points1y ago
I already said this earlier in the comments but apparently my manager didn't see the notice so we were still selling it. it's not a very popular drink at our location so I don't even think we sold more than five 🤷🏼♀️

The berries were recalled. It’s different than what it was before. The powder that covered the fruits used to be purple like the dragonfruit but it’s red and taste weird. And it’s too big. The berries used to be smaller.
FfierceLaw5 points1y ago
This was a while ago. I had the job of throwing out all the berries. Then we had to make it colorless or with a different inclusion for color. Then it got discontinued altogether
uwumoment1 points1y ago
the berries were recalled then it was discontinued bc starbucks cannot ever create a decent product
HunterLost20621 points1y ago
I was told that the black berries were recalled because they shipped with thorns in some of them
mylegalusername1 points1y ago
Very Berry in the US had berries recalled over a month ago. This prompted them to jumpstart the discontinuation which was planned for the summer. (It was going to be discontinued when Kiwi came out but didn’t due to the delays we had then). A weekly update after that said for everyone to markout and discard the Very Berry base, which we couldn’t sell without the berries unless requested anyway. (Same way we technically cannot sell a caramel frap if we run out of caramel drizzle, etc. Affects the experience and image of the item/Starbucks.)
While it had its following, VBH only comprised 12% of sales. So the room makes way for new items. Kiwi will probably be next, if not the chocolate malt powder.
LoveLiveSIP1 points1y ago
i don’t know about your store but ever since the CASE has been a featured menu item we have been selling chocolate almond milk shaken espressos like hot cakes so i honestly doubt chocolate malt will be discontinued any time soon if anything the would discontinue the honey oat milk latte or the honey almond milk flat white my store sells those like once every 2 weeks
mylegalusername1 points1y ago
That’s crazy. Good for your store. We sell maybe several a week at best to the point we’re tossing malt powder because it’s sat past a week. Malt powder is polarizing, so it’s either people love it or hate it. Could also be geographical.
And good news, check the winter Now Brewing that just came out. But honey blend is staying for the honey citrus mint teas at least.
LoveLiveSIP1 points1y ago
we were the same way up until Tuesday when winter launch happened now that the BOSE and the CASE are poster drinks people have been noticing both of them way more than before along with SARL and MDRL refreshers i find it funny how it’s working that way for all of those menu items but it didn’t work when they were advertising the Kiwi refreshers like crazy last year
Karona241 points1y ago
It doesn’t meet Starbucks standards
Ordinary-Theory-82891 points1y ago
Usually if it’s something where they don’t say, it’s probably a quality control issue and not anything health related
