Trenta rant (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by the_monkey_socks
I work at a Tarbucks and 4 out of our 8 staff members have tested positive for Covid.

This weekend only two of us can work. Target has agreed to close the cafe, but our Starbucks DM said we can do just fine with two of us, 8am-8pm. Y'all I'm so done and tired and pissed off. Two people can barely handle a weekend morning alone, much less an evening. Have they even looked at our after church crowd on Sundays? It's literally hell. People cursing at us after being in "God's house" and telling us we are re*arded and idiots. We had an ice storm last week and we had more sales than the Target side. They did 30% less business and we did an average days business, which is nearly $6000 (I know that's not a lot for bigger stores, but we are the highest grossing in our whole region for Tarbucks)

We don't have half of our syrups because our TL (shift) has been out and not able to order. We have no venti cold cups, no whip cream or sweet cream because our milk distributor keeps sending us expired or bad HWC and people are being awful. We are the only Starbucks in a 30 mile radius so it's not like we have anywhere to send people at all and our only couple of local shops have awful reviews.

I'm going to scream.

my regular corporate store does $8k-$9k in a day with about 15 people cycling through from 5a-9p so you sound like a mf trooper i would die

We’re down to three at a drive store and we’re all working through breaks. Our manager is on vacation so we called other managers to ask what happens when the third person leaves and we go down to two and they said “figure it out”

I’m so over this place.

Stop skipping your breaks. If that means wait times are 45 minutes, oh well. The store making more money for you skipping your legally guaranteed breaks will not benefit you in any way. Them saying "figure it out" sounds to me like close the cafe and shut off mobile to me. If they want you to work through you breaks, make them put that down in writing.

My version of “figuring it out” would be close down cafe, mark everything as unavailable in MOP, and do DT only. Then close completely after the third person left just so you can do closing tasks. If the company doesn’t take care of its partners, its partners have no obligation to take care of the company.

1. The two of you need to make a pact to call out both days. Maybe they will realize the need for more staff. Maybe.
2. After the weekend is over, you need to learn to do the order.

Ummm, my cafe store does about $6,500 a day and usually have 8-10 people hours are 5am-7pm. Saturday and Sunday we try to have at least 6 people on during peak.

I use to be a team lead at a Target. One at $6,000 a day, you are a mutimillion dollar store. We had a million dollar Tarbucks in my district and they had about 8-10 people working a day. SO it's utter bullshit that they think two people can handle an entire day.
Two Target is contractually obligated to have 2 certified baristas in the building during hours of operation. I got in trouble with the Starbucks DM because she stopped by and I was the only person in the store at the time. Not sure if your store manager would want to bring that up. We were also not allowed to open my Starbucks without a minimum of 9 baristas, so you are already in compliance with the contract (unless they changed it since I left in 2019).
When we were out of stuff last time I was at target. We just handed out free tall coffee and shaken tea. Maybe see if your Target will let you do that.
