Any good stories? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Due-Ear8105
Hi guys, fresh green bean here 🥺 Ive been working here for about a week.
I have been loving the job so far, my team is super nice and friendly, my trainer is incredibly helpful.
I love all the benefits so far, and have even made some friends!

I have a lot of prior experience in the service industry, so I am super pleasantly surprised by how lovely this job seems so far.
I can usually see the red flags by now, but so far I see none. it seems consistent and my team seems close and helpful!
Im well aware of crazy customers and horrid orders so its not a new stress for me.

What Im worried about now, is if I’ve been tricked…😭
I came on this subreddit looking for tips to learn hot bar easier, and all I see is horror stories and lots of reasons for why I have left previous jobs.
Should I be worried? :(
Or does anyone here have just a normal content feeling with their jobs? Feel good stories? Its scary seeing how much people seem to loathe working for starbs…

It's all depends on your store and management. I *love* my job, even when I'm super busy and even when I'm pulling 50 hour weeks, I live it, because I have great upper management and a great team. The customer atmosphere at one store can be totally different from the customer atmosphere of another store, all sorts of things can be different. Also, this is a place to vent, for people who love and hate their jobs equally.

I echo this. I am only PT on weekends now but even before that, my boss is top notch. She’s been a partner for a LONG time so she knows what it’s like in the trenches. She works on the floor. And the rest of my team are amazing. There are sporadic days where I go home and just don’t talk to anyone because I’m drained, but most of the time I enjoy my time with my team. I don’t NEED to stay at Sbux because I have a good FT job but I do because I genuinely enjoy it and the tiny paycheck is a nice little bump.

Think of some of the venting posts here kind of like online reviews: people don’t always post when they have a great, good, or even normal experience. But they will post when they need to vent. Here at least we can sympathize with each other.

it’s all about who you work with. i love my job and i don’t mind working 40 hour weeks here, and it’s 100 percent because of my coworkers and upper management’. starbucks as a company is really cool to work for in my opinion.

Really seems to come down to the Store Manager and possibly District manager. I really like both of ours. Do some days suck, sure. But overall everyone that works there really collaborates to make the day good for everyone in the store.

I personally have a good experience at my store, I love working there since I’ve made long lasting friendships with all my coworker. I think it really depends on your store. Overall though, i think a lot of the bad experiences mostly come from the customers and higher ups in the company, As they are the ones really allowing all these bad things to continue happening.

i think it all depends on where you work ! :) I love love working for starbucks and i used to work at a licensed store and i loved it so much. but management in my store right now is terrible and thats the only thing pushing me away. don’t be scared about other peoples stories !! if you like it , then make the best of it and have funnnn

237 here. I have been through 6 managers and 2 DMs. One remodel and 2 years of COVID. Ready to say goodbye. “Partners” is a misnomer and used to pretend this company cares.

I’ve been at starbucks for almost a year now and i wish i could tag it or something but there was a post a few days ago that i think displays my view and a lot of what i think all of us feel- we would be completely lost without starbucks, but that doesn’t mean we wont complain every chance we get. I mean, sure i do feel overworked (typing this after an 11 hour shift #nights lol) and it is stressful. But that’s kinda why i love it so much. It keeps me entertained and i’d be completely lost without this job!

Also another thing i want to comment on- idk if your training is different but dont worry about learning bar 4 days into working lol, take it slow. And for the love of all of our sanity get good at CS first (no one at my store can do cs)

I would say take it in stride. I have a sorta similar situation and while there are definitely moments when I get annoyed with my coworkers I know it's either because its a momentary thing or a miscommunication issue. But my SM and all my SSVs I love so far. (About to hit my six month mark).
