Starbucks Baristas: The daily grind

I’m still pretty shocked (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Starlett_Hudson
We closed our store early yesterday and had to put the sign in the drive thru. There was still a long line and one guy got mad at my shift. That guy got out of his truck and moved the sign and sat in the drive thru for like five minutes. Everyone behind him wound up doing the same before getting visibly mad and driving off.

I’ve genuinely never seen anything like it

EDIT: I’m going to be completely honest I thought it was funny in an “omg did that really happen” way

lmfaooo, did they think that moving the sign would mean you guys have to serve them?? people are wild.

I guess 😂 it was so weird

Why do people act like there’s only one Starbucks in a city? I bet there’s another one like a mile away
Starlett_Hudson [OP] 60 points 1y ago
There’s literally two near my store that aren’t even two minutes away.
Leesbux2001 9 points 1y ago
Lol i’m in a store that doesn’t have one until like 30 mins either way and there is only like two small coffee shops other than that not even dunkin’

We have had major staffing issues these last 2 weeks due to Covid, and every single day I worked, I witnessed a line at DT as we locked up and walked out to our cars. We had signs and cones. The first couple of people in line don't read or pay attention, and people line up behind them. We have had people getting out of their car and banging on the window while the lights are off/we are mopping. I just...🤦🏼‍♀️

How badly does someone need a frappucchino?
Starlett_Hudson [OP] 15 points 1y ago
Why does this happen 😂 it’s so ridiculous
Necessary_Low939 48 points 1y ago
Why are Starbucks customers especially dumb
rlblakey17 37 points 1y ago
We had to close ours early the other night due to impending snow scheduled to come through. Literally had matching signs at our drive thru, drive thru window, and front door. Someone came through, called "good morning?!" to be obnoxious, sat at our window, and then went to park in front of the door before finally leaving. People unfortunately just don't care.

They just don’t

We opened late one morning because our shift woke up sick and the next closest person was 45 min away. The line was wrapped around the building at one point.
The lights are off the store is dark. Like…. What??
lily-amber 30 points 1y ago
We have customers that drove over our cones. Obviously, if they move the cones the store is open all of the sudden.
reclusivegiraffe 23 points 1y ago
we had someone just run over our sign entirely. these people are literal babies

A few years ago when I worked at a 24 hour Starbucks we had to close drive thru and a lady reversed in and knocked on the window. When I told her we were closed for the night she said that she needed to know why. I told her no she doesn't closed the window, locked it and continued closing.
jazzysoranio 17 points 1y ago
It really is funny how many people actually think that if they move the sign the store will magically become open again. Like they also think if they keep knocking on the door for 10 minutes straight that we will suddenly become open again.

This seems to be a regular occurrence with Starbucks customers. We use the A-frame and put a sign on it saying we are closed AND PEOPLE DRIVE OVER IT! Not only are you a spoiled brat who can’t read, but you’ve also damaged property. Then they proceed to sit at the window for 15 minutes. It’s amazing!

I’ve wondered what might happen if we use police tape that says “Do Not Cross” lol!

When I first transferred to the DT I worked at, we had to close early a lot due to isolations (this was still during block scheduling) and the shift went out to put the cones out so we could start closing. A regular, who was always awful, pulled up, moved the cones and thought we were going to serve her. The shift put on a headset to tell the woman we were closed and she drove up to the window and started screaming at us. It was great.

We have people moving the sign very often at my location. Even had one guy in a truck get out, move sign - drive forward - then move the sign back. I don’t know what goes through the minds of most of our customers but some folks are just incredibly disappointing to see the way they act

We had a lady for a while who would run over the traffic cones with her white 2009 Mercedes SUV and pull up to the window demanding to be served. We’d tell her no and she’d throw a fit like a toddler. So glad I don’t work there anymore.
rterrebo 9 points 1y ago
I'm not. We serve entitled ungrateful people who demand their drinks and customizations STAT.

I'm thankful for the select few who are patient and appreciative!

We once set up our a-frame and cones to block the drive thru. This guy runs over the a-frame and sits at the call box for 10 minutes even thoughwe had a sign, then drives off and drags it for several blocks. People are idiots.
pumpqumpatch 5 points 1y ago
We’ve been having to use the A-frame to cut the line off when we close early. A partner will literally stand behind the last car in line and put the sign out when that car is in the actual separated line area. Sure enough last week my SSV took note of which car was in line last, so when a different car pulled up after that one, she politely went up to the window and requested that they please respect our baristas and their fellow customers by not moving the sign, and explained that one of our partners just got yelled at for telling a customer we weren’t taking any cars after close. Hopefully they’ll think twice before doing something like that next time.

Do you work at my store LMAO someone did this to us too and then it got moved AGAIN after the closers had left which we found out the next morning
vinc3den 4 points 1y ago
imagine being so obsessed with your coffee-adjacent milkshake that you act like this. brainrot
voldys_moldy_witch 3 points 1y ago
This happens at my store all the time! Literally they have ran over our sign like 3 times now it is so mangled it’s surprising it still stays up
jdanger1783 3 points 1y ago
Literally every single time we have to close early. My favorites are the people who will “threaten” to just run over the cones. Ok buddy good luck.
The_tired_barista 2 points 1y ago
So two stories:
1.) I had a guy threaten to hit me and out barricade with his car bc I wouldn’t let him enter our drive 10 minutes after we closed
2.) we had a stalker a few nights ago who tried to go through the line, was told we were closed, spent an hour parked out front then circled the store for the next hour every few minutes. We ended up calling the police to have them walk us out to our cars.
Improvmomolyfe 1 points 1y ago
Same dude. Closed our lobby for the whole day and had people trying to order with me while explaining why we’re closed through the door

I am always used to all of the Starbucks around me being open. Now I pretty much figure they are all closed. Drove past one that was open figuring the next two closer to me would also be open. Nope they were closed. Then hit another one a few days later and it was closed. Now I just figure they are always closed

Yea funny how they cant seem to keep their employees these days. Almost like they are treating us like shit and dont care when people come to work sick and spread covid✌ my store is primed to lose 8 employees the next time they do something that upsets us lol
