Accidentally put hot water in the shaker and now the lid won't separate. Any tips? (i.redd.it)

Your best bet is to reverse the vacuum you’ve created. Try filling a cube halfway with cold water and put the shaker on its side. That should cause one side of the shaker cup to contract and release/pop the lid.

NP. Your HS or College Physics teacher can teach you a lot of practical life lessons. (I’m not one, but I learned this sort of trick from them.)

Imma keep trying it but truth be told it's not working. I might have to leave it overnight and rush in with the openers to see if it will get to room temp and separate. Fingers crossed that isn't my fate

Lmao I’ve done this a couple times and this is the only way to undo it. Those lids really lock on tight!

Throw it on the ground

So hot water got inside the shaker, then the lid was put on, it cooled down, and the kid is stuck? Like someone else said, reverse the vacuum. But don't use cold water.

I'd say put the shaker inside the Hobart and while hot (BE CAREFUL) try to open it. Air will expand creating a smaller pressure difference between inside/outside the shaker.

to be honest with you all these replies are about physics or whatever i wouldve just let it sit a minute and cool then whack it on the counter lmao

I once stacked shakers after putting them through the Hobart and same thing, glued together. Tried the ice/hot water thing that didn’t really work, ended up getting them apart by shoving the foam spoon handle in between them, letting the go to room temperature and then having two people pull. Good luck!

Looks like you got part of the BPR stuck in there. We had two shakers placed stacked a few times after being in the Hobart. Completely stuck together, even standing on it wouldn’t break it. I was going to Dremel the outside one off but iirc we put hot water into a cube to expand the outside one and ice water inside to contract the inside one. After sitting for a few minutes, they slipped apart. (Or vice versa with the hot/cold.)

You could try something similar or put rubber bands on the shaker and hold it while someone else tries to pull the lid off…. Or just a lot of rubber bands to try to pop it like those watermelon videos lmao

Knock the side of the lower part on the edge of the counter. Serious.
