pumpkin sauce (self.starbucksbaristas)

hypothetically, if pumpkin sauce was opened, but refrigerated after opening, do you think it would stay good for longer than 2 weeks?

I wouldn't push it more than a couple of days since it's made with dairy. It also might be really hard to use, much like the butter shortbread syrup or whatever it was called from a few years back.

Could you divide it up and freeze it? Then defrost a couple days at a time? Might work, might break it down. But might not hurt to try.

Heads up, it doesn’t freeze. Hypothetically I might have tried freezing some leftover pumpkin sauce before (in an ice cube tray for portioning) and despite me leaving it in the freezer for a week it never hardened. Hypothetically of course.

Longest I've ever had one open with a pump in was 3 months, not refrigerated, and it was completely fine.

hypothetically, as long as you're not in an environment where health code applies, I recommend using it until it smells or tastes rancid/off. Your senses will identify when it's rotten.

Fun fact, milk is also fine past its expiration date as long as it doesn't smell or taste off. Expiration dates are an estimate, not a self-destruct code. I've actually use heavy cream up to a month past the date on the box, before it went off.
