Dumpster diving (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by The_tired_barista
A few days ago we lost one of our steam wand covers, like the gray thing that’s on the steam wand. We spent nearly an hour after we were supposed to leave looking everywhere for it, including one of our baristas getting the fun of going to the dumpster and pulling our bags from that day out where we got to go through them, which was just disgusting, milk, coffee, and bean ground everywhere. We ended up finding it the next day under a shelf. It was definitely not fun.
What stories of misplacing things do y’all have?

the moment someone suggests to me that I climb through the fucking dumpster is the day I throw my keys on the counter and walk out lol

The guy who went in actually volunteered for it. But still, there’s absolutely no way I would have.

I feel like you're definitely right on it being a major health hazard and I don't know for sure but there definitely has to be some kind of law or protection about this??

Why would y’all do that just order another one

That’s a great question. I don’t know.
I think bc we are one of the busiest stores around and 1 bar would kill us so we needed to find the second bar part

I totally understand that I do, but remember it’s just coffee. You don’t ever have to do stuff like that. Take care of yourselves first

Had this happen and it was all hell broke loose as we scrambled to find the skinny small ass gray thing. I get it 😂 you don’t want to be responsible for all the angry customers making your coworkers pay for night crew losing a key piece of a bar. Also your manager and fellow partners having to struggle and work twice as hard to make up for the loss of equipment. You did the right thing. Even if it was tedious, it was the selfless thing to do.
