You have to give your manager 60 days notice of a transfer to make sure it all goes through correctly, so I think starting that dialogue with a store in the next 4-6 weeks would be ideal.
Also, Starbucks is always hiring. Never is there not space at one or another store in an area.

you have to fill out transfer paperwork 60 days before your intended transfer date so both stores can make sure they have 1) coverage for after you leave and 2) space for you on the schedule when you arrive. transferring is a fun game that involves your current SM, your intended future SM, both DMs, and also you. if you give less than 60 days they say they can't ensure a transfer.
