Why do customers hoard stars like dragons on a pile of treasure

On of our regulars won some starbucks game and she get like 10x the stars for every dollar for X amount of time and they don't expire. She's over 50,000 stars. And I'm like you want to use any of them and always no, still waiting.

It drives me INSANE when I ask people who have thousands of points decline using their points for orders and say "nah I'll save them" SAVE THEM FOR WHAT?? You have thousands. Save some money and get free stuff already. It's become my biggest pet peeve haha

I've seen mostly pharmaceutical reps load their app up with the company card then place a 30 drink order. I asked them what they do with those stars, one said they bring their whole family and extended family in.

I had a woman come in a couple weeks ago with nearly 40k. She bought ten cups and 3 coffees just with her stars. Had about 32k left over after that lol

I saw a 21,000ish in the drive yesterday. Asked if he wanted to use those points (it was a big order) and he said "Nah, I'm saving them." Yeah no kidding dude lol.

65k and hates spending them. Wtf are they for then?

Alright so this person can buy tour entire stock worth of merchandise. Praying for you if they spent all the stars on drinks. That’s a good 121 drinks worth. I don’t even get the point of saving them all.

I can’t believe they STILL refuse to use their stars!! I have regulars with well over 1,000 stars and it’s to the point where im asking them if they want to use them cause they could cover entire orders with just stars!

I saw a 40,000 something one time. It’s not uncommon sometimes to see high ones where I work cuz I’m in Burbank there are a lot of PAs who do Starbucks runs and get the rewards from it lol

As someone who instantly cashes in once I hit 150 stars, I do not understand this.

I don't get why the people who have that many never use them either! If I had that many I'd be using them to get part of my order free all the time!
